The month is half way over and I hope that I've inspired you to get some cleaning done around your house! One of the things that I seem to go back to are the floors. Since half of our house includes either tile or laminate flooring, I... Read More »

A few weeks ago my son scraped his head while he was looking for ants in the front yard. Today he tried to climb on a chair and tumbled a very short distance to the floor. Welcome to mothering a boy. Cuts, scrapes, bruises and bumps seem to be inevitable. The nurse in me always seems to overreact to my son's mishaps, and it's really difficult to "let go" of ... While cleaning doesn't necessarily excite me, innovative, eco-friendly cleaning products do. Â Have I told you about my extreme dislike for sponges? Â I think they're gross. Â Those little grooves are certain to hide all kinds of icky microbes AND they fall apart whe... Read More »

We took my son to Toys R Us a week or so ago to find him a toddler bed (that story is definitely best suited for another post). Â This wasn't his first time, but it was definitely the first time he actually had an opinion about the toys. Â He spoke to Elmo...LIVE, lunged on an Elmo chair, and WOULD NOT leave the "Wonder Pets" aisle. Â After much protesting, we walked ... Read More »

Do you have a comfort food? Â A food you turn to when you want something familiar and satisfying....that's what yogurt is for me. Â I love the smooth taste and the way I feel after I eat yogurt...healthy and rejuvenated. Â You probably know that yogurt... Read More »

I have been eating Cheerios since I was a little girl and now my son eats it every day. In fact, it's really one of the only cereals I let him eat. And that's because many "kids'" cereals are 50% sugar. If you're familiar with the... Read More »

In my house, the three-second rule doesn't usually apply. Â Being a NICU nurse, we throw away everything that comes in contact with the floor, even if it's just for a second. Â Being that this is ingrained within me, I don't make it a habit of eating or giving my so... Read More »

Well...we're well into the third week and I have to say that I am LOVING the Wii Fit. I have not worked out this much since before I had my son. Â I really needed some motivation and I can honestly say that it's FUN. Â I had no idea that there were so many different fitness activities. Â I am always anxious to unlock new games and that is definitely a motivating ... Read More »

Many of you know that my husband and I purchased our first home last October. Â It's bigger than any house I've ever lived in but I'm having a teensy little problem...I can't keep it clean! Â I am a full-time mom (meaning I don't have anyone outside of the ho... Read More »

I love accessories...sometimes a little too much. Â In fact, if you ask my husband, he'll tell you that I have too many shoes and too many bags. Â His nickname for me is the bag lady (as unflattering as that sounds!) Â They say diamonds are a girl's best friend, right? Â I'll take a purse any day! Â
Guess what I just received in the mail? Â A fabulously st... Read More »

I never used to worry about our jobs or our financial situation. We even bought a house in October because I don't think it hit us that our country is in a state of economic turmoil. I was online the other day looking at the job market in Orange County (which is where I live) and I noticed that there were no jobs in my specialty in the entire county. I am ev... I am an only child which means I spent a lot of time with my parents.  Inevitably, I did grown up things like baking and cooking with them.  I  have wonderfully fond memories of baking with my parents using an Easy Bake Oven. To this day, I still love to bake. Â... Read More »

There are days (like today) when I wonder if my son is getting the proper amount of nutrition. He's not always picky, but some days I feel like I prepare food in vain. My pediatrician is very lax about the fact that he doesn't eat a lot some days, but I still worry. I am definitely one who believes in children (and adults for that matter) getting essential nutri... Baths...your children either love them or dislike them. Fortunately, my son LOVES baths. As long as he has his set of toys he's happy. One of the things I love about "bath time" is how it relaxes my son before bedtime. Bathtime is part of our routine at night and it's provides an opportunity for him to settle down after a long day of play and activity.
