My biggest mess?  My little munchkin was about 2 months old when we began taking him out.  I was that overwhelmed with breastfeeding etc.!  A couple that we know invited us over for dinner.  Of course as soon as we got to their house my little munchkin wanted to eat.  So I asked my friend if she could direct me to a quiet place.  I took my little munchkin up to her bedroom and nursed him.  He nurse a little but then seemed to be more focused on output than input (if you know what I mean!).  I stopped nursing him and placed him on a changing pad on my friends bed to change his diaper.  Once he was all clean I quickly (or so I thought) grabbed another diaper to put on him.  Well, it was too late.  You know how your Pediatrician tells you that breastfed babies may have explosive stools?  Well, my little munchkin managed to get it off the changing pad, onto the duvet and through it to the sheets, on the floor, and all over the new clothes I had set out for him.  It was by far the biggest mess I have ever cleaned up!

Smooth as Silk…Just What the Doctor Ordered!

January 22, 2008

I absolutely love my baby’s soft skin! I’ve done my research on baby skin care products and have ranked them in previous reviews. Only the best for my little munchkin!

Baby Silk Skin Care Products by MD Moms is on my list of top 5 baby skin care products. Baby Silk was created by moms specifically for babies.  The ingredients in Baby Silk are gentle, pure, and effective.  Gentle All-Over Clean is a hair and body wash which leaves skin clean and refreshed.  It smells wonderful and is extremely mild.  With ingredients like marine silk, aloe, Vitamin E and B5 I know my little baby’s skin is adequately protected, hydrated, and nourished.
.  .
Daily Skin Protection is smooth, hydrating, and absorbent without greasy, oily residues.  This product includes all of the ingredients listed above plus shea butter, avocado, oat and grape seed oil.  Not only is this lotion protective, it heals and has an antioxidant effect.  Hey moms…use it to give your baby a massage after a bath or on your hands during the winter!
I appreciate a diaper cream that is gentle yet effective since my little munchkin is prone to diaper rashes.  Soothing Bottom Relief does just what it says it does.  Zinc oxide, shea butter, and licorice complement the ingredients listed above providing a silky smooth and sheer barrier against irritants.
I used to use powder like it was going out of style.  Until I read about the hazards of talc.  With Delicate Skin Comfort, you can give your baby that soft smooth and powdery feel without the inhalants to go with it.  Shea butter, corn starch, and licorice complement the above ingredients to keep baby cool and dry.
The docs behind MD Moms have created a luxurious skin care line for babies free of lanolin, petroleum, and mineral oil, known irritants to baby’s delicate skin.
Pamper and bathe your baby Baby Silk…just what the Doctor ordered!

Cranium Bloom Blog Tour

January 14, 2008

During early childhood, the brain is growing and developing rapidly…so much so that by the time a child reaches the age of 3, he has twice as many neuronal connections as an adult.   As parents, we strive to find the latest and greatest products that promise to foster our children’s development.

Cranium has launched Bloom, their new line of games, books, puzzles, and toys geared towards preschoolers.  These products were designed to encourage kids to Create, Discover,  Perform, and Connect.  I had the opportunity to review Let’s Play Count & Cook Game and Let’s Go to the Zoo Seek & Find Puzzle courtesy of Mom Central.  Cranium has intuitively developed these products with consideration for preschooler’s attention span, which a mom will greatly appreciate. For example, Let’s Play Count & Cook Game can be played in as little as 10 minutes.  Each Bloom product comes with a pamphlet detailing additional product-specific activities designed to expand upon the 4 concepts that build a bridge for this line, by taking the game into the child’s world.  Cranium Bloom products are affordable and available online and in Target stores.
Bloom Let's Play Count and Cook Game
I can’t think of a better way to teach a child about life than to simulate normal, everyday activities in a game.  That is exactly what Let’s Play Count & Cook Game does!  I LOVE to cook and teaching my son how to cook while promoting the acquisition of matching and counting all through play is ingenious.   The game is played by first choosing a recipe.  Players move their “chef” from their starting ingredient to a token on the board where an ingredient is shown.  If the ingredient is part of the recipe, the token is added to it.   The “top chef” wins by completing the final ingredient needed for the recipe.  The recipes in the cookbook are fun and will appeal to most children (although I would have liked for them to be a little healthier).  The cookbook also includes an actual recipe for peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, kitchen tips, facts, and tidbits, and pictures of kitchen tools and utensils.  Your child is on his way to becoming Top Chef!  Let’s Play Count & Cook Game retails for $12.99 and can be purchased at the following stores:
Bloom Let's Go to the Zoo Seek and Find Puzzle
Let’s Go to the Zoo Seek & Find Puzzle is both a game and a puzzle, teaching children spatial thinking, counting, color and letter matching, fine motor skills, and working together.  Once the puzzle is put together, the game of finding animals, objects, and colors begins.  Is your child just starting to count or recognize shapes and colors?  Play the beginner version!  Is he/she ready for a challenge?  Move to the advanced version!  This is a game that will be played over and over again.  With the numerous variations and suggestions your child will think they are playing a different game each time!
Let’s Go to the Zoo Seek & Find Puzzle retails for $9.99 and can be purchased at the following stores:

Play is essential to healthy brain development and offers numerous benefits.  Cranium has created an outstanding product line designed to foster development through play.
I’d like to thank Cranium and Mom Central for the opportunity to review Bloom, their newest product line.

No…I Love YOU More!

January 7, 2008

As I began reading Laura Duksta’s book I Love You More to my son the first time, I started to get tears in my eyes. Sometimes words cannot express how much I love my son. This book with it’s simple yet profound message is a beautiful pictorial and symbolic expression of the love between a mother and her child. A sketch of the world drawn in the center of the book is used to depict the unending and limitless love they share. The book is divided into two sections, one describing how much a mother loves her child and the other how much the child loves his mother. Just flip the book to “change perspective.” With it’s gorgeous “child-like” illustrations and poetic phrasing, parents and children will want “more” of this book!
