Chocolate Gingerbread Donuts Recipe
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa Powder
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup butter melted and cooled
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Icing:
  • 4 ounces of cream cheese softened
  • 2 tablespoons of butter softened
  • 1/2-1 tablespoon heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Candied ginger pieces
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F
  2. Prepare donut pan with cooking spray
  3. In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and spices. Set aside.
  4. In a separate bowl combine buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until thoroughly incorporated
  6. Fill each donut cavity with approximately 1/4 cup donut batter
  7. Bake at 425 degrees F for 6-8 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
  8. While the donuts are cooling, prepare frosting by mixing cream cheese, butter, heavy whipping cream, vanilla and powdered sugar until smooth
  9. Spoon icing over donuts or dip the tops of each one into the icing and top with candied ginger pieces
  10. Serve immediately
