Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat

Add the popcorn and sugar

Stir to combine and coat kernels and cover with a lid

When the first kernel pops, begin shaking the pot continuously until popping slows down (failure to shake pot will likely result in burned popcorn)

Immediately remove popcorn from heat (as it will continue to cook) and pour into a large bowl

Sprinkle with salt and serve warm
