Our fabulous 4th of July plans include a summer grill-out with friends, swimming, and relaxing with family. But for many, the holiday weekend involves travel. As a family, we've reduced the number of road trips because of rising gas prices. However, with two small children, it's still our preferred method of travel when factoring in cost and convenience.

June flew by, and with it went the temperate weather that we always get here in Southern California. June Gloom is gone and in it's place are temperatures well into the 80s and 90s. During the spring and fall months, we rarely use air conditioning. We simply open windows if it's warm and ensure that the blinds are closed during the time when the sun's heat is at... Read More »

My son just turned four, and apart from two dental screenings, he's yet to visit a dentist. I honestly wasn't sure when he was supposed to have his first dental visit (perhaps a question I should have asked at his last annual check-up), but from visual inspection of his teeth during our daily brushing, I knew a visit was needed soon.
Last week, we stopped by our ... Read More »

Once again, I'm scrambling last minute to find that special gift for my husband. In many ways, he's very practical and would likely be content with whatever he received. Since it's been some time since he invested in his wardrobe, I decided to buy him a few accessories.
With $30 to spend, I decided to purchase a belt and a pair of sandals at our local Walmart. ... Read More »

"No one will serve the Next Generation Customer with more passion and greater purpose than Walmart associates." - Mike Duke, President and CEO of Walmart
On any other morning, I would have rather slept in than wake up at 4 am (Central Time, mind you) for a 4-hour business meeting. But this was no ordinary meeting...and no ordinary company. I knew Walmart's an... Read More »

Our current in-theater movie options include animated films or flicks that are not kid-friendly, with little in-between. When P&G and Walmart introduced Family Movie Night, I was excited about the possibility of not only being able to watch a wholesome movie with the hubby, b... Read More »

This is definitely going to be a short post because I have to be up at 4:30 am CST. Since my body is still on PST, that translates to 2:30 am. I've contemplated just staying up!
In all seriousness, I'm excited and honored to be attending the Walmart Shareholders' Meeting this year with a group of Walmart Moms. In previous years, artists such as Mariah Carey, Josh... Read More »

About a year ago, I really started pursuing my passion for photography. I invested in an SLR camera (and some other equipment), read some books, and gleaned wisdom at conferences and informally through photographers I know and admire. And then I did what is probably the most important part of learning to do something...I practiced...a lot. In fact, I'm still pract... Read More »

I'm laughing a bit at the title of this post, considering the fact that my children would rather be outdoors on any given day than cooped up inside a house. But for many parents, it's a struggle to pull children from computers, video games, and the like to get them outside for some physical activity. Since summer is right around the corner, I thought I'd share som... Read More »

Whoever thought up online shopping is brilliant. I can shop at all hours of the night...in my pajamas...and have my items delivered right to my front door without any effort. While it's definitely easier to shop online, particularly with 2 small children, it's inconvenient if you need something immediately.
Just over 2 months ago, Walmart introduced Pick Up Tod... Read More »

Having children means coming to terms with their little messes. Whether it's my daughter throwing her Cheerios all over the living room, or my son emptying his sand-filled shoes on our floors, there is never a dull moment when it comes to domestics! Thankfully, Dyson's Digital Slim Vacuum is versatile enough to handle these not so teeny messes. Check out how we'... Read More »

While I can't say that there are a lot of household chores I enjoy, vacuuming is one I actually don't mind. There is something about a clean floor that just makes the entire house feel cleaner.

Over the last year or so, I've become extremely passionate about photography. It was probably meant to be, considering my father's line of work involved photography. With two young children who are growing and changing quickly, you'll almost always find me with some type of camera in tow to capture their funny, adorable, and sometimes messy moments.

Spring is the season that typically motivates me to do an in-depth cleaning of our home. Because I only have a small amount of solo time each week, I make the most of it by being efficient. Anything that makes those necessary tasks easier and less time-consuming is worth investing in.

As the primary shopper in the household, it's my goal each week to stay within our predetermined budget for groceries and household items. I accomplish this by perusing store ads, using coupons, and shopping at multiple stores. While it's not uncommon to find me shopping a few times a week at different locations to try to find the best deals, I'd prefer to shop at... Read More »

Our annual visits to the Southeast inevitably include at least one trip to a Walmart Supercenter. I am not really sure why it's so difficult to find a Supercenter in our area, but the closest one is at least 30 minutes away. I get a little excited about visiting these particular stores because they include a grocery section so expansive, it's like a supermarket wa... Read More »

Rising gas prices...cutbacks to school funding...job uncertainty... With the economy still struggling, I know that I am being vigilant about where we spend our money. Since I do a majority of our family's grocery shopping, I am the one who researches purchases, scrutinizes ads, and cuts coupons to save as much as I can. My husband often jokes that I spend way to... Read More »

The future belongs to those who give the next generation reason for hope.

As a busy mom of two, I'm lucky if I get in 5 minute shower on most days. I simply don't have the time for a complicated beauty regime. Before I had children, I made it a point to get regular skin care and beauty treatments. Facials, in particular, were something I looked forward to in order to give my skin a thorough cleansing and boost. These days, I have to... Read More »
