Holiday Gift Guide 2009: Me4Kidz Medibuddy
December 14, 2009
I have a little boy who loves to run, climb, ride his scooter and a myriad of other physical activities…many of which have the potential to result in injury. I used to be paranoid of every scrape, bump, and bruise. Now that he’s older, I worry a little less about the minor boo-boos, but a mother never stops worrying about her children (especially this mom who just happens to be a nurse). My medicine cabinet is stocked with the supplies necessary to deal with most minor injuries…as long as they occur at home. But what happens if one of these injuries occurs at a park?

Me4Kidz is a family-owned business offering children’s first aid kits. They offer full-size and travel-sized kits with kid-friendly necessities. I have the Medibuddy in my diaper bag and it includes bandages, gauze, antiseptic wipes, burn relief cream, sting relief, antibiotic ointment, and stickers (which always help make the owies better!). The kit is compact enough to fit in a purse or diaper bag without taking up a lot of space. It’s housed in a durable plastic case and contains the basics for dealing with minor injuries. I think the Medibuddy could be paired nicely with the Diaper Bag Buddy which contains wipes, diaper rash cream, moisturizer, aloe vera, bandages, a thermometer, shampoo & body wash. This is a perfect kit to have, particularly if you’re traveling.

What’s nice about the kits is that they’re portable and contain the basics you’ll need, presuming you’re at a park or a location that doesn’t offer these types of items. You can even add to the kit (there’s room inside) to tailor it to you and your childs needs (I thought about putting in a small bottle of Motrin). I would recommend that if you do decide to put actual medications in the kit, that you ensure your child cannot get into it.
The Medibuddy is very affordable at approximately $5.50 (per Amazon). You can find Me4Kidz products at a variety of retailers online and nationwide.

Holiday Gift Guide 2009: Around the Table Games *Giveaway*
November 21, 2009
This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by! The winner is Laura Mancini, congrats!
Winter is the season where we spend much of our time indoors (unless you live in Southern California and it’s still in the 70′s during the day). It’s difficult to continue to come up with new things to do with children and I like to limit the amount of TV time in our house. Because I grew up as an only child, my mom (in particular) played a lot of games with me. As our children get older, my husband and I plan to incorporate game nights on a regular basis. Games are a fun and interactive way to get family members talking.

Over the summer, I reviewed a few games from Around the Table Games. You can read my full review here. What I like about the games is that they’re portable (and make great stocking stuffers…hint hint!) which means you can play them at home, around the dinner table, and on the road. They also encourage discussion and interaction which is great for children, particularly as they get older.
Just released from Around the Table Games is a brand new app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. I personally don’t own either device, however, I thought I’d share with you just a bit more information from the site (because it sounds interesting!):
Simply pick one of the 30 conversation questions, ask the question, and get a surprising and often hilarious glimpse into the hearts and minds of family and friends. Diverse topics reveal surprising answers.
Some of the features of this application include the ability to capture talk sessions to save as keepsakes to share with others and to start a conversation with anyone on your contact list. You can purchase the application for $0.99.
Win It! One of you will win two games of your choice from Around the Table Games. Simply leave me a comment with the two you’d pick if you won! Comments will close on December 5, 2009 at 10 PM PST. One comment per person, please (unless you do the extra credit). US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. If you don’t want to leave your email address, please be sure to check back for my announcement on the winner.
