My little grazers would snack all day long if I allowed it, which is why I strive to keep fresh fruit, veggies, and whole grains on hand. My goal is to offer my children nutrient dense foods that are a good source of protein, vitamins, and minerals. One of the easi... Read More »

Both of my children tend to be grazers...they would snack all day long if allowed. While I definitely believe that smaller, frequent meals are optimal for adults and children, I have to ensure the house is stocked well with healthy foods so that my children can snack sensibly. ... Read More »

One of the unexpected good things that have resulted from my son's food allergy diagnosis is our virtual elimination of packaged foods. You'd be amazed at how many cookies, crackers, breads, and the like contain dairy, eggs, and/or soy. Since my son wouldn't be a preschooler if he didn't enjoy snackin... Read More »

If I allowed it, my son would snack all day long. I wouldn't necessarily consider that harmful, except that his snack choices are often fruit snacks as opposed to fruit or baked potato chips instead of fresh cut veggies. I'm not opposed to snacking, as long as those snacks are not foods filled with empty calories and processed ingredients.

As 2010 comes to a close, I sit here thinking about my goals for 2011. The typical ones come to mind...eat healthier, exercise more, lose weight, get and stay organized, manage time more efficiently... This next series of posts is all about starting a new year as a new you! And because I'm a bit of a health nut in general, I'm excited to share with you some new ... Read More »

For the last three years, I've been using a diaper bag instead of a purse. At some point during my son's childhood, I decided that it would be easier to carry one bag as opposed to two. And I can fit so much more in a diaper bag. Inevitably, my purse/diaper bag has become s... Read More »

Summer is almost here...can you feel it? I'm excited about all of the things we've planned for our family including trips to local amusement parks, kids's places and spaces, and New York City. But going out with the kids is no easy feat (particularly since I do it without... Read More »

"I want a snnnaaaccckkk!" I can't tell you how many times my toddler says that in one day! And finding something healthy (that he'll eat) is always a challenge. I recently wrote about the types of food we eat and how we grocery shop. Because we avoid things like high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, and trans fats, we're limited when it comes to package... Read More »

I like to snack (and I probably do way too much of it, which is why I never lost all of my first pregnancy baby weight!). Chips and salsa are one of my favorite snacks. I like organic, low-salt blue corn tortilla chips with mild salsa! It's a relatively healthy snack and it curbs my appetite in between meals.
Rosarita, a brand that has been around for almost 70... Read More »

So it seems like this week is all about food! I totally did not plan for it to go that way. But apart from shopping for clothes, shoes, and school supplies, you're probably shopping for food items to place in your child's lunch. I personal... Read More »

I can't believe that it's only been a few weeks that I've actually had any sort of appetite. Right after BlogHer, the nausea mysteriously disappeared and I started getting HUNGRY (shocking!). What should I crave but CHOCOLATE!

I've recently had a wave of strange cravings. A few weeks ago, I came home from work after having a long, exhausting, emotional day, and asked my husband for some cherry pie. He is so incredible because at 9pm, he went to the store for some cherry pie!
