After a very busy week, I was quite content to lounge on the couch this afternoon, watching the shows that have been accumulating on my DVR. Despite our warmer than usual daytime weather, our nights are still chilly with temperatures dropping down into the 40s! This evening, I warmed up with Serta's cozy new Sleep to Go Fleece blanket, which is officially replacin... Read More »

Who would have thought that having a child would be so disruptive to one's sleep? Even after four and a half years, I'm still struggling through nights of interrupted sleep. Fortunately, those interruptions are temporary!

I am currently sitting in a bedroom in Benton Harbor, Michigan, listening to the thunder and rain as the lightning illuminates the sky, missing my bed. There's nothing like a good night's sleep, and while I definitely don't think I'm going to have any difficulty fa... Read More »

Do you find mattress shopping just a tad bit overwhelming? The thought of making such an expensive and permanent decision on an item that I will use nightly for upwards of 25 years is daunting. I have only shopped for a new mattress twice in my life, and the amount of research that went into those 2 purchases was extensive. I spent weeks reading, researching and... Read More »

Mother's Day was less than one week ago, and do you know what I asked my husband for? Flowers? Chocolate? Shoes? No! All I asked for was a little time to myself and a full night of uninterrupted sleep. And having spoken to several of my mom friends, they would agree that lack of time and lack of sleep are the two biggest challenges of motherhood.

I vaguely remember when sleeping for 8 or even 9 hours straight was the norm. These days, I'm happy if I can collectively get 6 or 7 hours of sleep. One co-sleeping, nursing baby who's yet to sleep through the night plus one 3 year old who sneaks into our bed around midnight equals chronic sleep interruption. Did I mention that my husband snores? Yes, I'm very... Read More »

We have a beautiful crib sitting in our bedroom that's never been slept in by our daughter. As attachment parents, our children co sleep with us. How long is still the question, since some nights our three year old gets thrown in the mix. My daughter is an excellent nighttime sleeper, but isn't the best at taking naps in the crib or pack and play. She's grown ... Read More »

For the last several weeks, we've suspected that our baby girl has reflux. The colic, reflux and slow weight gain confirm that this is likely why she's been fussy and uncomfortable. One of the things are Pediatrician told us to do was have her upright as much as possible. Because we co-sleep, it's been a challenge to figure out a good way to do that while juggli... Read More »

I know this is a season in my life...but sleep deprivation is something I can't ever get used to. This time around it's even worse because I don't get an opportunity to nap when the baby is asleep. I have an active toddler who decided to stop napping consistently when our daughter was born. And I have a husband that sleeps and snores through everything.

When my son was a baby, he had a lot of fussy moments. He didn't sleep through the night until I stopped breastfeeding (at almost 15 months) and to this day he still wakes up every now and then. I tried most things people suggested...routines and schedules, books, etc. But I was determined not to let him cry it out, so my husband and I had our share of sleepless... Read More »

On some nights, you'll find my son, tucked securely between my husband and I. He's two and a half, and while he does manage to sleep in his toddler bed most nights, sometimes he wants to be close to mommy and daddy. I co-slept with my son for about a year and a half (some may say that's too much) and if I had my way, he'd still be in our bed. Co-sleeping helped ... Read More »
