I first discovered blogs when I was pregnant with my son. A high-risk pregnancy landed me on bedrest and I was forced to stay connected via the internet. Unlike most moms-to-be, I researched, registered, and shopped online without ever seeing a product. These days, I still do most of my research and shopping online.
During Oscar weekend, I had an opportunity ... Read More »

If you can imagine, we aren't home enough to watch a lot of television (just read my blog or follow me on Twitter). However, those times when I'm trying to get the three of us out the door to start the day and he is trying to get into mischief, I've been known to turn on Playhouse Disney for a few minutes. There are distinct shows he won't watch...and I know this ... Read More »

Gaming has only recently been accepted as an educational method and traditional gaming systems are targeted towards young children.
Earlier this week, Warner Bros. Inte... Read More »

Last week, the kidlets and I headed out to Paramount Studios to meet the rockin' members of The Fresh Beat Band! It's actually one of the shows I not only tolerate, but enjoy. The show, which is geared towards preschoolers, is centered on four best friends in a band who attend music school together and enjoy singing and dancing. Nickelodeon offers both 30 minute... We initially only placed him in the center two mornings a week, but every morning he'd wake up excited to go to "school" and see his teachers and play with the kids.
KinderCare Learning Centers also of... Read More »

My son and I spend a good part of our day reading...it's part of how I'm teaching him about shapes, colors, numbers, letters, and animals. But there is only so much reading that can be done. After all, he's two and needs just as much time playing as he does reading. I spend many of my days at home (I know it doesn't seem that way) and I have to get creative with... Read More »

For some kids, starting school, or returing to school after a summer long vacation can cause anxiety. We put our little boy in preschool this summer for the very first time and he's had a very positive experience so far. We did prepare him in advance before sending him to school. Reading books about school was just one of the ways we prepared him and how we cont... Read More »
