Last week, my parents took my little boy to see Kung Fu Panda 2 while I stayed with my daughter. My son adored the movie and I’m hoping to see it this week!

If you have a Po fan in the house (and you’re local), be sure to bring the kids down for a special meet and greet with the beloved Po from Kung Fu Panda 2. Tomorrow (Sunday, June 5th), UltraLuxe Cinemas at the  Anaheim GardenWalk will make a special appearance at the theaters from 1-4 pm to celebrate the release of the film.  Families can take photos and there will be giveaways including movie posters, balloons, tattoos, children’s activities in the new LuxeLounge, and more.

If you haven’t seen the film, you can reserve advance tickets through the box office or online. Matinees are just $8.50 for adults and $7.50 for children plus 4 free hours of parking with validation.

For just $1 a night, you can rent the latest movie releases quickly and effortlessly.  There are 26,000 locations nationwide located in grocery stores, mass merchant retailers, drugstores, restaurants, and convenience stores. Renting my first movie was so easy.  Even though I had a free code, I was still required to input my credit card information. However, my credit card was not charged because I returned it within the 24 hour rental time. This Saturday, January 8th, Family Movie Night returns with a movie that’s certain to touch your heart.  American Idol contestant Brooke White stars in Change of Plans, a movie about a couple who take over the care of her best friend’s children after a tragic accident.  Here is a brief summary from the site:

Up to this point, Sally Danville’s life has played out just as she hoped it would. A beautiful and free-spirited musician, she and her fighter-pilot husband, Jason, live life on the go, free of domestic responsibilities. But with a single phone call from Child & Family Services case worker, Dorothy (Phylicia Rashad), she learns that things don’t always go according to plan. Sally (Brooke White) is met with the news that her best friend from college has died in a tragic accident on a Peace Corps mission and has named Sally the legal guardian of her four kids – 3 of them adopted from third-world countries. Now Sally and Jason (Joe Flanigan) must quickly learn to parent this instant family and help the kids deal with the culture clash of life in America.

Walmart and P&G want to reconnect families through their Family Moments initiative.  Family Movie Night is part of this movement and offers meaningful entertainment you can feel good about watching together.  Change of Plans is the fourth movie by Walmart and P&G and each one is available for purchase exclusively through Walmart after it’s prime time airing.

I haven’t seen Change of Plans yet, but after viewing the trailer, I’m planning on sitting down with the hubby to watch.  Be warned…you might shed a tear after seeing it…

In anticipation of the October 5th release of Beauty and the Beast: Diamond Edition (on Blu-ray and DVD), the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood is premiering a new Sing-a-long screening on Saturday October 2nd at 3:00 pm.  The El Capitan Theatre is an exclusive first-run theater for Walt Disney Pictures and hosts live stage shows, world premieres, and special events.  The theater itself is gorgeous and an interesting place to visit.

Through October 7th, guests will relive the magic and music of the movie while singing along to the words.  A special appearance by Belle will be featured at each performance. The theater will also offer Breakfast with Belle at the Disney’s Soda Fountain & Studio Store on select days before the 10:45 am showing.  And those of you with tots (like myself) might want to check out Tiny Tot Tuesday (September 28th) at 10:45 am.    During this showing, parents and small children can enjoy the movie with dimmed lighting and reduced sound levels.

Show times are at 10:45, 2:00, 4:45, and 7:30 and tickets are on sale now at the theater, online, or via phone (1-800-DISNEY6).

You’ve likely seen the movie, but if you haven’t here is a brief synopsis:

“Beauty and the Beast” follows the adventures of Belle, a bright and beautiful young woman who finds escape from her ordinary life by reading books.  Meanwhile, off in a castle in the distance, a cruel young prince is cast under a spell that turns him into a tormented beast, and his servants into animated household objects.  In order to remove the curse, the Beast must discover a true love who will return his affection.  With the help of the castle’s enchanted staff, Belle sees beneath the Beast’s exterior and discovers the heart and soul of a human prince.

If you have small children, you’ll want to check out Mommy Movie Mondays.  Major theaters like Krikorian and Pacific offer moms the opportunity to see first-run films WITH their children…and it’s ok if they cry…or babble…or scream (thankfully!).  So what’s it like going to the movies with a child?  I don’t know…at least not yet. But I have a date next week with my kiddos to see Easy A.  I’ll let you know if I actually get to see the movie…or hear it.

Fortunately, you can stay current with a new site called Fancast.  Here is a little more information from the site:

Fancast also offers comprehensive editorial and blog coverage with in-depth recaps and analysis on what’s hot and happening everyday in the world of television and entertainment.

To be honest, I was quite impressed with their selection of full length television episodes and movies.  I also like the fact that the site is free (just like television).  I will say that if you have a DVR, you probably record your favorite shows (as we do).  But sometimes there is more than one show on at the same time and we aren’t able to record both so this is a really nice fallback.  

Another great thing about the site…minimal or no commercials…so a one hour show is really only about 45 minutes.  Plus, I can watch it when my husband wants to watch The Office or Iron Chef!  

You won’t find EVERY show on the site, but you will find many.  They’re offered in chronological order and you can even catch up on past seasons.  I know there was a time when my son was first born that I watched little to no television for weeks.  

So if you’ve missed the latest Glee or Dancing With the Stars episode, check out Fancast!
