It's mid-January and I've already knee-deep in cleaning and organizing our house for the new year. Since the new year is all about change, I always use this time to do away with the old in preparation for the new. Right now, you can find some incredible savings on home items from brands like Clark & Wellington, Boston Warehouse Kitchen, and Mud Pie on Totsy. Her... Read More »

When my husband and I moved into our home, we had a lot of work to do. It was a foreclosure and had not been occupied for a long time. While it definitely could have been much worse, we did have to do a deep clean, paint it from top to bottom, and install new carpet on the second level. I really liked the laminate flooring downstairs (which was still in grea... Read More »

A little over a year ago, after spending many years as apartment dwellers, my husband and I bought our very first home. It was so freeing to be able to personalize the decor in our home, from the paint on the walls to the carpet we installed. My husband and our parents painted the entire 2-story home (impressive right?). We chose unconventional colors like deep ... Read More »

Simple. Modern. Earth Tones. Eco-Friendly. These are the four adjectives I would use to describe our taste in home decor. We don't have a lot of stuff (i.e. knick knacks) because we like to keep things simple. We also have a toddler and a baby on the way, so breakables and things that require dusting don't fit well with our lifestyle.
In October, I had an o... Read More »

It's during the holidays when family and friends spend the most time together. My husband and I like to entertain...to open our home to host guests for conversation and a meal. One of the things I just love about the holidays is decorating. I like putting Christmas towels in the bathroom and spiced candles in our living room.
Up until about a week ago, we did... Read More »

It was classy but casual. Intimate without being overwhelming. Simple with much attention paid to detail. Last week I spent a enjoyably relaxing day with some of the gals from LA Moms Blog, sponsored by simplehuman. The Los Angeles-based housewares design company tastefully displayed their latest products, designed for "efficient living." We got a sneak previe... Read More »

My husband and I have been homeowners for 9 months now and while it's still a work in progress, we've definitely done a lot to make it feel like our home. We both brought furniture pieces to the marriage but somehow, the things we liked in college just don't fit our family lifestyle now. Before we moved into our home, my son was with us so we didn't really have an... Read More »

Now that we own a home, I've had a lot of fun decorating! And many companies are making home decorating even easier by using attractive canisters for their products (i.e. Clorox Decor Canisters). I think the idea is brilliant. I don't have to buy separate containers and canisters to put products in to personalize the look of my home. It's also less wasteful ... Read More »

Up until a few months ago, I had no idea that silhouettes were a unique, creative, memorable way to decorate. Just ask my friend and fellow blogger Linda...she's obsessed with them! We recently decorated my son's room but we still had one empty wall, right above his crib.
Thanks to Vinyl Silhouettes, we have a lovely, artistic, custom head profile of my son in ... Read More »

How much time do you spend in the kitchen? Between meal preparation and clean-up for 3 meals a day, 5 days a week, I spend more time in the kitchen than any other room in the house. And you know how much I enjoy cooking! As a nurse, I am accustomed to being on my feet 12+hours a day. My ... Read More »
