As a family, we enjoy spending time outdoors and we’re fortunate to live in a city with temperate weather. Since June is Great Outdoors Month, I’ve been trying to share simple tips and ideas for getting families to spend time together outdoors.
June also happens to be National Dairy Month, and over the last month, I’ve shared simple tips and recipes for incorporating dairy into your diet. There are a variety of quick, tasty recipes that can be made and enjoyed on-the-go or at your next outdoor gathering. Here are my favorites:
Granola and Berry Yogurt Parfait
Alternate layering a clear glass cup or bowl with Organic Lowfat Yogurt, fresh, organic seasonal berries (raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries), and Organic, Lowfat granola.
After baking an Organic potato in the oven, top with Organic Lowfat Greek Yogurt and Fresh Chives
Top a freshly baked pound cake with Organic strawberries and homemade whipped cream (combine Organic whipping cream with powdered sugar).
Goat Cheese Flat Bread Pizza
Top a whole grain flat bread with homemade pizza sauce, fresh spinach and fresh goat cheese.
Dark Chocolate Mocha
Blend Organic coffee with Organic skim milk, and dark chocolate syrup. Top with freshly whipped cream.
Salmon topped with Greek Yogurt, Fresh Dill, Lemon
Top a Wild Alaskan Salmon with Organic Lowfat Greek Yogurt, Fresh Dill, and Lemon.
Through the end of the month, you can visit Safeway to enter to win a picnic in your favorite National Park which includes air fare, accommodations, and transportation for four, a picnic basket and a $200 gift card.
