It was 99 degrees in Orange County today. As soon as we entered July, we also entered the dry, hot summers that California is known for. Fortunately, our community has a pool and we've been taking full advantage of it!
My son is four years old and hasn't received formal swimming lessons. My goal was to enroll him in lessons prior to this point, but a series o... Read More »

Ten days ago, Disney/Pixar's animated film Cars 2 raced to the #1 spot at the close of opening weekend. My son can't stop talking about the film, and it helps that we have some movie-inspired toys to keep us occupied. We've also been "training" with Finn McMissile in Cars 2: The Video Game.

I rely heavily on my appliances to make cleaning efficient. In a given day I could run two loads of dishes when I'm preparing three meals. In the 2 1/2 years we've lived in our home, we've yet to clean our dishwasher or garbage disposal (Ack!). We simply didn't know that our newish dishwasher and garbage disposal require cleaning to remove built-up residue and odors... Read More »

I wear my children for two reasons...attachment and convenience. In those sweet, blissful newborn days, babies need to be next to their mamas. The gentle sway, warmth, and sounds of her heartbeat mimic that what is experienced in utero. And, if I'm being honest, it's much more convenient to have a baby secured to me while I'm running after my preschooler.

Music is an integral part of our family. My husband sings and I played the piano for many years. Both of my children enjoy music, particularly my daughter who literally dances every time she hears a song (even if it's simply on television). With reality shows like American Idol, many children and young adults enjoy exploring their own musical talent.

One of my biggest skin care challenges is finding products that are designed for sensitive skin yet effective. I don't mind if a product is mildly scented, as long as it's not overwhelming. With combination skin, I need a group of products that will assist with hydration without causing me to breakout.
I'm very careful about the skin care products I try, parti... Read More »

Several years ago, I made the decision to stop purchasing bottled water. Not only is the plastic harmful to our environment, the water has not been proven to be any safer than tap water (Environmental Working Group). At home, we use a water pitcher that contains a filter, so that we... Read More »

Thank you to Kroger and CoverGirl for sponsoring this review. While CoverGirl provided me with a $30 gift card to purchase CoverGirl products at Kroger stores, the opinions I've expressed here are solely my own, represent my honest viewpoint, and not that of CoverGirl, Kroger, or Proctor & Gamble. I am making no claims about the products, just expressi... Read More »

Throughout my childhood, I had 4 dogs. We adopted each one from a shelter and kept them until they lived out their life. So it seems odd that at present, we don't have a furry friend in our home. My son has asked on ... Read More »

A little over one year ago, Layla Grace's battle with cancer ended. Not only does her memory live on, her family continues to provide education and support for parents and raise public awareness about children's cancers through the Layla Grace Children’s Cancer Research Foundation.

A few years ago, I found it very difficult to find safe, sustainable skin care and cleaning products for our family. These days, the sheer number of choices can be overwhelming. While I definitely have my favorites, I'm always open to trying new eco-friendly products to see if there might be something that works more effectively for our family's needs, is more affor... This afternoon, my son and I had a wonderfully relaxing day together at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa! We lounged and splashed and generally enjoyed one of the first warmer days of the season in Southern California.
Our summers in Southern California tend to start out mild with several days of June gloom, and by July and August we're scorching... Read More »

As a little girl growing up in LA, I have many fond memories of our family trips to Disneyland. I can remember the excitement of riding Space Mountain with my father, and the wonder as we sailed through the different countries on 'it's a small world.'
This year marks the 45th anniversary of 'it's a small world' at the Disneyland Resort and in celebration of this ... Read More »

A few years back, California instituted a hands-free law which makes it illegal to use a handheld cellular phone while driving. While bluetooth devices existed prior to this law, I'm not certain they received as much attention as they do these days. I remember using an older bluetooth device that had to be plugged into a phone. Companies began to take a look at th... Read More »

While I can't say that there are a lot of household chores I enjoy, vacuuming is one I actually don't mind. There is something about a clean floor that just makes the entire house feel cleaner.

Over the last year or so, I've become extremely passionate about photography. It was probably meant to be, considering my father's line of work involved photography. I have taught and modeled healthy eating habits for my children since they were born. Fruits and vegetables were my children's first foods, and while they definitely don't eat every piece of produce I place on their plate, they manage to consume a colorful variety of foods.
