Over the weekend, the hubby gave me an entire day to myself…an entire
day to myself (it was worth repeating). There aren’t many breaks with two small children in the house, and I was extremely grateful to him and to Moms LA for organizing a peaceful, relaxing spa day at the
Newport Beach Marriott.
The contemporary hotel, which is located just minutes from the beach and Fashion Island, houses
Pure Blu Spa, a delightful retreat from the stress and busyness of life. The facility is quite spacious at 14,000 square feet, and guests can relax poolside or in one of two relaxation rooms. Whether you’re visiting from out of town or desire an escape for the day, you’re certain to find the inclusive spa to be pure bliss!
The facility itself features 16 treatment rooms, a modern fitness center, a full-service hair and nail salon, a dry sauna, a Eucalyptus steam room, a salt water jacuzzi and lap pool. I could spend an entire day of rejuvenation at the spa!
The spa is housed on two levels, and I really like the fact that you can walk out of the downstairs relaxation area to the private pool area to lounge or swim. Private cabanas are available for rent and I imagine that’s a brilliant idea during the summer months.
The spa itself is lovely…quiet…serene. From the decor and lighting to the plush robes and spacious women’s facilities…no detail was forgotten.
During my visit, I received the following four treatments:
Refresher Facial
Paraffin Hand Rejuvenation
Bamboo Lime Massage
Poolside Cabana Hand Massage
My favorite was the facial. I think people underestimate how relaxing and rejuvenating a facial can be. The therapist cleansed, exfoliated and hydrated my skin. Bonus? An incredible facial massage!
I’ve heard a lot about hot stone massages but have always been nervous to try one. The spa is introducing their brand new bamboo lime massage (which is a unique take on the hot stone massage) where a therapist uses warm bamboo sticks as an extension of his/her fingertips. This was wonderful for relieving the tension and knots in my shoulders.
The result of my frequent handwashing is dry, chafed hands. A paraffin hand rejuvenation and poolside massage was definitely needed. If you’ve never had a paraffin treatment, I highly recommend it. It’s amazing how little time it takes to restore moisture and softness to your hands.
With an array of specialty massages, facials, and body treatments, Pure Blu Spa is Pure Bliss!
As I mentioned above, the spa is introducing their brand new Bamboo Lime Massage. Here is a brief description since it’s not on the menu yet:
This remarkable massage technique utilizes bamboo sticks as an extension of the therapist’s fingertips. The heated bamboo sticks will knead, roll and tap along your body creating a greater increase in circulation. This heat therapy is a mixture of smooth light pressure to consistent firm pressure to really release any kinks your body may have. The conclusion of this massage experience includes a pure blu body ritual for the calves and feet leaving you feeling like you’ve floated off the massage table.
Pricing is as follows:
$225 for 80 minutes
$160 for 50 minutes
Through the end of August, the spa is running the following specials:
$190 for 80 minutes
$135 for 50 minutes
You can also save 30% on the paraffin treatment and refresher facial.

No compensation was received for this post. I was invited to a media preview at the spa which helped facilitate this review.
What a beautiful place, looks like you had a wonderful time.
I could SO use a visit to a spa like this, I desperately need some pampering.
Your photos are wonderful, esp. the one of your toe dipped in the water, very creative.
