Free Developmental Checkups and Way To Play Day At Pretend City Published on Monday, May 9, 2011 by

My almost 17 month old daughter is a babbling bubbling bundle of energy.  My nearly 4 year old son is active, inquisitive, and intelligent.  For the most part, my maternal intuition tells me they’re both developing as they should.  But I wasn’t always confident in their progression along the chart of expected milestones.

If you’re a parent in Orange County, you must check out Good to Go From Head to Toe.  The development initiative within Pretend City Children’s Museum promotes the importance of regular developmental checkups as part of routine well-child visits.  The initiative targets children birth through five and is funded by the Children and Families Commision of Orange County.

This coming Friday, May 13th, families can bring their children in for a free developmental checkup ,which includes an assessment of motor, communication, social and thinking skills.  Developmental Checkups will be performed at Pretend City from 10 am to 12 pm and are free with museum admission.  On-site health care professionals will answer your child development questions. and assist parents with completing the Ages & Stages Developmental Screening Tool (ASQ).

This Friday, the museum will also host another Way to Play Day.  Engage in simple play activities with your child, complete the Grownup Challenge by exploring with your child and learn how to better understand how their developmental milestones are progressing.

For more information, just visit the museum’s website.
