When I think about poverty…starvation…need…I think about other countries…impoverished countries.  I don’t look at our affluent society and think it possible that 17.2 million children living in the US don’t know when or where their next meal is coming from.  But these are the facts and despite the tragedy that is occurring in nations like Libya and Japan, we have our own moral crisis right here in the US.

ConAgra Foods has partnered with Feeding America to help fight child hunger.  Child Hunger Ends Here is a campaign designed to raise awareness about child hunger in the US and provide simple ways you and I can be involved in helping to end it.  Perhaps you’re skeptical or unsure that you…one person…can make a difference.  Over the next few months, I will be sharing more information about how you can play an integral role in helping to end child hunger, as well as some pertinent information about the two entities involved.

So what can you do right now?

On March 19th, NBC will broadcast a 30 minute special hosted by Al Roker and Natalie Morales.  Child Hunger Ends Here: A Special Report will highlight the personal stories of families struggling with hunger and discuss how Americans can work together to help end it.  During the special, viewers can opt to participate in an online event that will shed additional light on the issue of child hunger. By following the hashtag #ChildHungerEndsHere on Twitter during the broadcast, viewers can ask questions from an expert panel and learn about ways to get involved.
