Suave’s Gone Pro! Published on Sunday, November 14, 2010 by

The number of days I dress up, apply makeup, and actually do something with my hair each week is rare and inconsistent.  I call it success when I get in 5 minutes of interrupted shower and dress time.  Most days I let my curly hair dry naturally, often without anything in it.  I thus rely heavily on effective shampoo and conditioning products  to keep my hair manageable.

Earlier this year, I had an opportunity to put Suave’s Professionals line to the test with several of my friends and a local celebrity stylist.  Suave’s “professional quality products have been proven to work as well as salon and specialty brands.”  The company has recently reformulated their shampoo and conditioner line, including 4 products which are comparable to several in Aveda’s product line.  Regardless of your hair type, Suave offers a solution, including remedies for color protection, volume, and dryness/damage.  Because I live in a rather dry climate, I prefer the Almond and Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner because it helps with the replenish the moisture that’s stripped when I dry and straighten it.

Two weeks ago, I hosted another Suave party to demonstrate the effectiveness of the company’s products.  Los Angeles-based celebrity stylist Shannon Hughey made each of us over using a variety of Suave’s styling products.  While I don’t typically use styling products on my hair, there is one that I highly recommend or curly, dry, unruly hair (like mine). Their Sleek Styling Cream helps smooth and manage hair without weighing it down.  I like the act that it doesn’t make my hair feel greasy or stiff.

Here are some pictures from the night:

Hah, maybe there should be a disclaimer on the above photo that says there is a baby under the blanket and it’s not a bad fashion move! ;)
