Spinning for a Cure Published on Thursday, October 28, 2010 by

During the past month, I’ve written about companies and organizations that support breast cancer research and awareness.  On Saturday October 30th, twenty-five cyclists will attempt to complete four consecutive 35-minute spin classes and one Pilates class at four New York Sports Club fitness centers throughout Soho and Greenwich Village. This is the first annual NYC Spin-a-Thon and the money raised will benefit the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care.

The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care is located in Harlem, New York and has been providing advanced cancer screening and treatment programs for the community since 2003.  Many of the screening and diagnostic procedures are provided free of charge or at reduced costs to those who are under or uninsured.

In the past, the NYC Spin-a-Thon took place on Long Island and has generated more than $60,000 in donations.  This year, the event will be held in Manhattan and the goal is to raise $10,000.
