Halloween in Southern California truly marks the end of summer and the countdown to Thanksgiving and Christmas. As a child, I remember going to our local mall to trick-or-treat because it was safe. Theme parks, recognizing parent’s desire for a fun, safe, memorable way to spend the holiday with their kids, have introduced not-so-spooky Halloween-themed celebrations during the month of October. LEGOLAND has followed suit with their Brick-or-Treat Party Nights.
Last week, we headed over to the theme park inspired by the infamous Danish-made toys. On select Saturdays throughout October, LEGOLAND hosts their Brick-or-Treat Party Nights from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. When the park “closes” for the day, Castle Hill, Land of Adventure and Imagination Zone transform into a ” not-too-spooky Halloween haven” for the party. Highlights include costume contests, trick-or-treating on the Brick-or-Treat Trails, festive music and live entertainment including their “Boo Crew.” In true LEGOLAND style, the park is decked out with Halloween-themed LEGO models. But my son’s favorite part of the night was trick-or-treating! While the lines for the Brick-or-Treat Trails can get very long, they’re well worth the wait. The treat stations offer everything from candy and apples to coupons for Chipotle kid’s meals and trading cards. Tip: Don’t forget the bonus trail at Sea Life Aquarium.
Other activities include a costume contest where children can enter in one of three categories (heroes, LEGO, and creative), a candy corn scavenger hunt at Haunted Hideaways, Spirits of Brick-or-Treat Light Show, and Hubble Bubble’s Dance Party. Because the party is open to all guests who have purchased admission, it can get a little crowded in some areas. However, there is so much to see and do and many of the park areas are open during the party. Tip: Wait until later in the evening to trick-or-treat when the lines are shorter.
The party is geared towards children 12 and under and there really is something for kids of all ages. We caught some of the entertainment happenings including the dance party and took a photo in front of the giant pumpkin. But my son was eager to get on rides since we spent the first part of the day at their water park.
Brick-or-Treat is included with the price of admission, or you can pay $30 for evening admission to LEGOLAND and SEA LIFE Aquarium. LEGOLAND also offers a Brick-or-Treat Hopper which includes a full-day admission to LEGOLAND, SEA LIFE Aquarium and an additional day for free. For more information, just visit their website.
