I tried to teach my child with books,
He gave me only puzzled looks.
I tried to teach my child with words,
They passed him by, often unheard.
Despairingly I turned aside,
How shall I teach this child, I cried.
Into my hands he put the key,
"Come," he said "Play with me!"

My toddler...
"Mommy, Mommy...Draw a train...Draw Thomas...Draw tracks...Draw a tunnel..." My son thinks I'm Van Gogh! : ) And every time we go anywhere...and I mean anywhere...he has to have a train. Last week we visited FAO Schwarz...twice...we managed to escape with just one lone train...Charlie. Before we went on vacation...I went shopping at T.J. Max... Read More »

I love living in our home...the home we purchased with our own money and all of the freedoms that come with it. I can paint my bathroom magenta and get black out curtains if I want (although the hubby would never go for magenta). I can hang pictures of places I dream of visiting and tear out the tile in my kitchen without asking anyone (but the hubby, of course).Â... This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by. The winner is Sabrina. Congratulations!
Over the past two weeks, my husband and I have witnessed some pretty impressive 3 year old tantrums. And without preschool as a buffer, my husband and I were wracking our brains in search of creative discipline. We finally resorted to bribery with organic lollipops and ... Read More »

When I was in college, I perused through Goldstar on a weekly basis, looking for discounted tickets to the latest L.A. theater production. I have had the privilege of seeing The King and I at the London Palladium, The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre, and Wicked at the Pantages (among many others). But up until a week ago, I had never seen a Broadway musical.

I'm back! I've just spent the most memorable 10 days in the city that never sleeps. Last year, around this time, BlogHer announced that they would hold it's annual conference in New York City. I couldn't purchase my ticket fast enough. And because we live all the way on the other side of the country, our vacation was decided in that moment. For a year, my ... This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to #178 Jennifer Horn on winning!
Very soon, children will don backpacks and board school buses for that first day back to school. While my son is still just in preschool, it's important for my husband and I to be involved with and support his learning environment.
With budget cuts and an uncertain economy, schools are i... Read More »

Like most men, my husband doesn't enjoy shopping, which means that it's up to me to ensure he is fashionably comfortable. I once heard that what you wear underneath is as important what you wear on the outside...that the first step to looking and feeling good is putting on undergarments that are comfy and ... I'm back! I think it's been at least five whole days since I've blogged, which is longer than I think I've ever gone. And...I'm still in New York City so posting, etc. will be light this week.

A couple of weeks ago, we celebrated my son's 3rd birthday at our local zoo. If you were following my tweets, you saw my attempts to do something I've never done for either of my children...bake and decorate a birthday cake. The interesting thing about the cake I made for my son was that it was Vegan. Baking a Vegan cake in a Cars cake pan was easier than I th... Whew! It's been a very busy few days. I worked shifts back-to-back over the weekend in order to have some much needed time off! The last few days we've been shopping, packing, and prepping for our time in New York City, hence, the lack of blogging. The next few days will be a bit busy and I may not have a lot of time to post (which is the ironic part of a blog... While it may seem a bit early to talk about Halloween, many stores are already stocking costumes for Halloween. I don't necessarily like the darkness surrounding Halloween, but we do like to dress up and celebrate in brighter ways. From visiting our local pumpkin patch to strolling our little neighborhood, we actually do get quite festive and excited about the holid...
