I find it interesting that I spend quite a bit of time researching and shopping for outerwear and nearly no time whatsoever on what I wear underneath.

I always look at store-bought cakes with their intricate designs and wonder how much training and practice it takes to achieve such artistry. Last month, we celebrated my son's third birthday, and I set out to make and decorate his cake for the first time. Given the fact that it was my first second attempt at cake decorating, and I had to ensure all of the ingredi... Read More »

On those days, when we're not out at Disneyland or splashing in our community pool, I try to offer my son diverse learning and play experiences. Apart from coloring, baking, and pretend play, my son really enjoys play dough. Conventional dough dries out when left out and can get stuck in carpets and such.
Thanks to Team Mom, we had an opportunity to check out M... Read More »

Up until a few weeks ago, my husband and I left our child's photos to the pros at our local department store. We never really bothered to browse local photographers although in retrospect, we should have. Photography is very personal, and finding that person who will capture you story can be challenging.
Babyphotographers.com is an online resource which helps p... Read More »

I dreaded wearing that navy skirt, white shirt, and black and white saddle shoes as an elementary school child. And yet, as a mom, I actually like the idea of not having to worry much about my childrens' school attire.
If your child attends a school that mandates uniforms, check out Lands' End's Back to School sale where you can save 30% on school uniforms and up t... Read More »

I try very hard not to pay full price for most things. I research and price compare, use coupons and shop off price retailers.
If you're not familiar with off price retailers, let me fill you in! At sister stores Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, and A. J. Wright, you'll find much of the same merchandise you'd find in conventional retailers for a fraction of the price. S... Read More »

My husband and I are total foodies. Very often we'll opt for ethnic cuisine when we go out because it's not something we cook at home on a regular basis.
It seems a bit ironic to use "foodie" in the same sentence as "food truck." But this Saturday, the OC Foodie Fest is bringing 50 of the most popular, creative and unique food trucks to Southern California. Whe... Read More »

I may not be Consumer Queen, but the hubby says that I "rock" at scoring great deals. I try not to buy anything that's not on sale, use coupons whenever possible (including online coupons), and do a ton of research before making purchases. I was recently introduced to Daily D, a site that hand-picks the best local merchants to provide you with significant discount... Read More »

Earlier this morning, I participated in a web chat with Michelle Conlin and several "green" bloggers to discuss her film project entitled No Impact Man. I have an entire post dedicated to the project, but it definitely had me thinking about what MORE I can do to reduce my carbon footprint.
It seems simple enough... forgo BPA-laden plastic and opt for reusable bot... Read More »

Last week, my 3 year old son and I had a heart-to-heart...it went something like this.
Me: Do you remember when we went to the museum in New York City and saw the dinosaurs?
Toddler: Yeah...
Me: Were you scared of the dinosaurs?
Toddler: Um...yeah...
I then proceed to show him this clip.
Toddler: I'm not gonna be scared of the dinosaurs.

While we were in New York, I decided to schedule some early morning meetings with some of the PR representatives I've worked with over the past three years. One of days, I headed over to The Sak Brand Group Showroom (which just so happens to be right across the street from the Empire State Building) for their Spring 2011 Preview.

We've been back nearly a week and I have so much to write about our trip to New York. I am such a city girl and coming home was bittersweet. I absolutely loved being able to walk to Times Square from the apartment we rented. But lugging the double stroller up and down the stairs to the Subway...not so much.
One of our "must see" activities was visiting the Am... Read More »

I'm a chocoholic. It's rare that I can go a day without eating chocolate in some form (which is why I keep a stash of chocolate chips in the fridge at all times). If you can believe it, there is a healthy, guilt-free way to indulge in chocolate (and caramel) with Oikos' new P... Read More »

When I was pregnant with my son, I struggled to find more than one or two companies offering BPA-free bottles and feeding products. It's been three years, and I don't think I could find a BPA-containing feeding product at Target if I wanted to (which is a good thing). The challenge is now to decide which bottle, sippy cup, feeding set is most fitting for our child... Read More »

I think it's been weeks since my husband and I have watched a movie...particularly one that isn't animated! Since we don't get a lot of opportunities to go out to the movies, we rely on DVD and Netflix to catch up on the latest releases.
