Vtech’s MobiGo Touch Learning System *Giveaway* Published on Friday, June 4, 2010 by

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is Sheila.  Congrats!

Remember how I told you about my son’s limited exposure to video games?  Well…that just changed…sort of!  Last week we received Vtech’s soon-to-be released MobiGo Touch Learning System and my son is fascinated by it.  At 3, I’m not likely going to be allowing him to play most video games, so a learning system targeted towards his age range is a great alternative.

So what is a MobiGo?  This hand-held learning system combines education with entertainment at the touch of a finger.

My son is growing up in a world heavily focused on technology and electronics.  Naturally, he wants to play with daddy’s smart phone and type on mommy’s computer.  MobiGo’s touch-screen technology is innovative and was designed to resemble the way parents use their own touch-screen devices.  I like it because my son isn’t coordinated enough to type.  He quickly picked up on the touch-screen technology without difficulty.  It will be several years before he’s able to master use of the QWERTY keyboard, but in time, it will introduce him to basic typing skills.

MobiGo includes a variety of educational games which teach skills such as math, spelling, vocabulary, shapes and logic.  Children can draw, go fishing (my son really likes that game) and “play” the piano. There are varying difficulty levels which is one of the reasons why the system has a wide target age range (3-8).  My hope is that my son will play with and learn from the system for many years, given that there are 11 games available and more to be released.

My son, who is just 3 this month has the dexterity to hold the device in his hands.  Developmentally, he understands the basic concepts of some of the games, while others still require explanation and assistance.  Here is a short video of him trying it out:

When MobiGo launches this week online (June 7), additional games and content will be available for download so the system can be customized.  MobiGo will only be available for purchase online until August and will retail for $59.99.  Additional games will be available for purchase for $19.99.

Win It! One of you will win a MobiGo from Vtech!  Simply leave me a comment with a feature you like from the site. Comments will close on June 19, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST.  One comment per person, please (unless you do the extra credit). US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. If you don’t want to leave your email address, please be sure to check back for my announcement on the winner. Please note that winners must respond within 48 hours of being announced/contacted or another winner will be drawn. Want an extra entry?
