I still remember my childhood room…and how it changed over the years as I grew up.  My son will spend a lot of time in his room, and I want him to have wonderful memories of that space he sleeps and plays in.  One of the things I’ve enjoyed about living in our own home, is the ability to paint and decorate to our heart’s content.  And because children grow and change so quickly, it makes sense to use decor items that can easily switched out over time.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to transform a space, is to use Wall Decals.  Modern Wall Graphics offers removable, repositionable, no mess wall stickers that can be applied in a short amount of time…and you don’t have to be an artist to use them. It’s as easy as peeling and sticking, although we chose a complicated design and the process of getting it to look the way we wanted took about an hour.  Check out my son’s brand new Cali-themed wall:

As I mentioned above, the decals are relatively easy to place.  Each pack includes an applicator tool (to help smooth down the decals), a tips sheet for getting the look you want, and spacer dots to help position your graphics precisely where you want them. While we were applying these, I was glad that they were repositionable.  One of the tips I will give you is try to position the decals over an area that is smooth. I noticed that we have uneven texture on the wall where we placed the decal and while it looks incredible, I would have loved to have it over an entirely smooth surface.  For more tips on application, just visit their website.

Cut decals apart. Tape the decals up
first. Use Spacer Dots
at key spots of the
decal to “remember”
the placement you
want.		 Peel the backing away,
leaving the decal
adhered to the clear
top sheet.
Place the decal. Rub
over the surface with
your applicator tool.		 Peel away the top
sheet, smoothing
it down and off of
the decal. Use
applicator tool if
needed to hold down
parts until you have
pulled past them.		 Use applicator or
fingers to smooth
decal down. Remove
Spacer Dots.
And you are done!

So how do I know they’ll come off without damaging paint?  My son has successfully managed to remove a few (and I quickly curbed that action!).
