A couple of days ago, my husband asked me what I wanted for Mother’s Day. I looked at him with a blank stare. I hadn’t thought about it. With the two littles running around, Mother’s Day just snuck up on me!
Last week, Western Union (the company that helps with global money transfers), announced the launch of it’s “Return the Love” campaign, designed to encourage you and I to give moms the gift they want. I am very much consumed in getting everyone in my family what they want…so much so that I haven’t even thought about what I want. But if you were to give me a gift card and a few hours sans children, I could use it to pick out a new pair of shoes or a new dress. If you are still in search of the perfect Mother’s Day gift, consider giving mom cash or a gift card. Its practical, quick, and easy. You can wrap it in a pretty box and personalize a card to present it in.
Did you know that according to a recent survey, conducted by Western Union, 42% of moms pretended to like their Mother’s Day gift. Thirty percent thought the gift was thoughtful but not what they wanted. Because I’m a bit difficult to shop for (according to my husband), giving me a gift card or cash would be something that would work for both of us.
The “Return the Love” campaign is centered on celebrating mothers. Western Union has set up a Flickr page where you can share photos of the moms in your life. Each week, Western Union will select photos from the gallery to display on the company’ s home page.

I love all the gifts I receive as they are from the heart, but in my heart, I have always wished that my husband and children would make me a big chocolate fudge cake. All I want for Mother’s Day is for my mother to finally get a break. She’s been the caregiver for my father who passed away this week from kidney cancer. She never left his side the whole time. She deserves a special day!

What I wanted the most for Mother’s Day was to be with my children. I knew I couldn’t be with all of them as they are grown & have their own families, live too far, etc. But I was able to see a couple of them and the others called. One took me out for dinner 3 days earlier when he came through town for business. As we get older I think we realize more how we need more time together.
