Tea With Fancy Nancy Published on Thursday, May 6, 2010 by

Before I had children, my mom and I frequented many a tea room.  It was something special we did together as mother and daughter.  While my mom and I still manage to have afternoon tea, it’s few and far between.  My daughter is still little, but when she’s a bit older, I plan on continuing this tradition with her.

Fancy Nancy, a young girl who “dresses extravagantly,”  uses “big” words, and has “larger than life personality” introduces little girls to poetry, tea parties, and the finer things in life.  This week TwitterMoms is looking for ideas on how to throw a Fancy Nancy tea party.

1. Location, Location!  Children love to go outdoors.  A park or garden are the perfect backdrop for a Fancy Nancy tea party.

2.  Wardrobe Please!  Children love to dress up.  Be sure to pair that frill dress with a hat to match.

3.  Decorate to Celebrate!  Children love to pretend play.  Including table settings and flatware that resemble the a grown-up tea party will set the tone for the event.  Pink anyone?

4.  Le Menu!  Children love finger foods.  Mini tea sandwiches, scones, and cookies are the perfect bite-sized treats for a Fancy Nancy tea party.

5.  Remember the Moment!  Children love gifts.  A Fancy Nancy book makes the perfect keepsake for remembering this special day.
