Benihana *Giveaway* Published on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 by

This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to our winners: CherylS22 (#194) and Teresa (#24)!

My husband and I don’t go out to eat very often, but when we do, we opt for nontraditional restaurants with an ethnic flair.  We are fond of Asian cuisine, particularly the Japanese variety.  And one of my favorite restaurants for Teppan-style Japanese food is Benihana.

Benihana is the leading Japanese-themed restaurant chain in the world.  Benihana is as much about the experience as it is about the food.  The tables have a cooktop in the center and your chef entertains you while cooking your meal in front of you.  My son is usually wowed by the volcano!  What’s great about the restaurant is that the menu includes foods that Americans are familar with including steak, chicken, seafood, and vegetables.

During the month of March, Benihana’s Chef Special is the Hibachi Shrimp and Chicken for Two, a large multi-course meal priced at $35.  The meal includes the following:

Benihana onion soup

Benihana salad

Hibachi shrimp appetizer

Hibachi vegetables

Homemade dipping sauces

Steamed rice

Japanese hot green tea

Häagen-Dazs ice cream, sherbert or sorbet

Considering this special is for two, it’s a great price!  Additionally, they are featuring an assortment of green drinks in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, and a variety of sakes.

Win It! Two of you will win a $35 gift card to Benihana to experience the restaurant and their March special.  Simply leave me a two-part comment with your St. Patrick’s Day plans and what you’d order off the menu.  Comments will close on March 18, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST.  One comment per person, please (unless you do the extra credit). US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. Please note that winners must respond within 48 hours of being announced/contacted or another winner will be drawn.

I would order the Teppanyaki Hibachi Steak, and for St Patrick’s Day I will wear my green sweater since I’m half Irish, and I’m meeting my parents for lunch.

For st. paddys day, I ususally go out with my sister and make dinner to celebrate, and if we are feeling courageus we go out and hit people with water ballons if they arent wearing green.(people are in the laughing spirit when we do it! so its not really bad) oh and I would love to try the sushi there.

  • by Chris F. March 4, 2010 at 12:48 pm

I can’t say that I celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, aside from wearing a green article of clothing. I’ll just go to class and come home.

I will be working on St. Patrick’s Day. I would definitely order the special for 2 at Benihana. I got an email about it and thought it sounded good. The only thing I don’t like about Benihana is sharing a table with strangers. My daughter and her friends had a very bad experience with rude tablemates when they went.

  • by Stephanie March 5, 2010 at 4:36 am

I’m a vegetarian, so I order the Garden Delight when I go. Haven’t been there in a long time though- looking forward to taking our son!

  • by Sharon A March 12, 2010 at 1:29 pm

I love Benihana but I haven’t tried the Spicy Hibachi Chicken yet. For St Patricks day I will be celebrating my Irish heritage with corned beef, cabbage and carrots. Actually the corned beef hash the next day is wonderful.

For St. Patties day we always eat Corned Beef, Cabbage and potatoes. I think my sister is doing it this year but I’m secretly buying my own because I LOVE it so much (for later). I’ve never been to Benihana but have always wanted to go so badly. I would order Benihana Excellence
Teriyaki beef* julienne with scallions and colossal shrimp and Banana Tempura. Mmmm…my mouth is watering right now!

I’m hoping to take advantage of the free Redbox movie code and finally see “What Happened to the Morgans?” :) As for what I’d eat at Benihana’s, I would definitely take advantage of the $35 Hibachi Shrimp & Chicken dinner for 2 and order some California Hand Rolls!
