I should know better than to hype up an event with my 2 1/2 year old days before it’s to occur. My son never forgets things like this (but somehow manages to “forget” that it’s not ok to throw food on the floor…or hit his baby sister…sigh!) and days leading up to the event I heard a lot of “I want to see the chipmunks!” But I digressed. Last week, we headed over to Fox Studios for a media event celebrating the release of Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
Now, I haven’t actually seen the first movie, but from some of the clips shown at the event, it looks like a fun movie for adults and kids alike. Here is a bit more info on the release, scheduled for March 30:
Pop sensations Alvin, Simon and Theodore end up in the care of Dave Seville’s twenty-something nephew Toby. The boys must put aside music super stardom to return to school, and are tasked with saving the school’s music program by winning the $25,000 prize in a battle of the bands. But the Chipmunks unexpectedly meet their match in three singing chipmunks known as The Chipettes -– Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette. Romantic and musical sparks are ignited when the Chipmunks and Chipettes square off.
While we were at Fox Studios, my son met the chipmunks,
and danced to their single, “Single Ladies”
I learned that their is a Spanish language version of this movie and that these three chipmunks have actually “munk’d” the nation for over 50 years. I also learned that they’re named after the executives of their original record label and that their high-pitched voices were originally created by speeding up the play back.
When we got home, my son thought we were going to watch the movie (aw…). Fortunately, we’re going to get a review copy!

I remember the cartoon growing up so the live action movies bring back a lot of memories for me. My daughter loves the music and their high pitch voices. Such a great movie for small children!

I actually watched Alvin and the Chipmunks as a kid and loved to dance and sing along with the music. Now when I play the shows for my daughter, I walk into the room and just stand there watching her dancing around and singing. Deja Vu?!

Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved the Chipmunks Christmas album (I had it on vinyl record…now a CD version would be nice!)

My daughter saw this movie preview on tv today and now she really wants this movie! She said she’s going to ask the Easter bunny.

My brother’s friend “Eric” always reminded us of Alvin. He had a similar squeaky voice, sorta looked like him (I can’t explain it) and was always finding ways to get the two of them into trouble. We aptly knick-named Alvin.. lol; so, I have have a soft spot for that little guy! LOL

What I love about the chipmunks is the music. When I was a little kid my sister and I had the old records. It is so cool that they brought them back for little kids and us “bigger” kids to love and enjoy. I have always been a chipmunk fan and loved Alvin since way back when. I still have the old stuffed animal from way back in the 80′s!!!

The first thing I remember about the Chipmunks was a 78 rpm record my mom had of The Christmas Song. When I was a little older, I used to watch the cartoon on television.
