Valentine’s Day Gift Idea: Primula Flowering Tea Gift Set *Giveaway* Published on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 by

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by. The winner is Sandra B. Congrats!

My mornings aren’t complete without a nice, hot cup of tea (or two).  Tea is one of my favorite drinks.  And the added health benefits inherent in many teas compel me to make consumption a regular occurrence.

It’s not too often that I come across a product that fascinates and “wows” me.  Whether you’re a tea drinker or not, you will be awed by the beauty of Primula’s Flowering Tea Gift Set.  The set includes a Handblown Glass Tea Pot with Loose Tea Infuser and a gift canister of flowering teas.  The tea pot itself is handblown borosilicate glass.  It has a distinct, classy look.  And despite the fact that it seems contrary to put boiling hot water in a glass pot, that is exactly what you’re supposed to do.   It’s microwave and dishwasher safe and includes an infuser for loose leaf tea. This is a much more effective way to enjoy loose leaf tea without having to “strain” the tea.  However, you’ll want to use this pot for their flowering teas.

Primula offers white, green, and black tea flowers that “bloom” when placed in the pot with hot water.  My set came with their Jasmine infused green tea.  The tea flower is blended with Jasmine 5 times and then hand sewn to flowers by artisans in China.  When the tea flowers are steeped in hot water, they bloom.  It’s really a neat phenomenon and makes for an exquisite tea.  I let it steep for several minutes after the flower had “bloomed” and it was strong enough to make out the flavors.

The gift set comes with 12 different tea flowers, each which can be steeped up to 3 times for a total of 36 steeps or 250 cups of tea. Primula products are available online and select Macy’s and Bed Bath and Beyond stores.

Win It! One of you will win a Primula Flowering Tea Gift Set.  Simply visit the site. Then come back and leave me a comment with something else you like or learned on the site.  Comments will close on February 18, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST.  One comment per person, please (unless you do the extra credit). US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. If you don’t want to leave your email address, please be sure to check back for my announcement on the winner. Please note that winners must respond within 48 hours of being announced/contacted or another winner will be drawn.

I drink hot tea every morning. (I gave up coffee in October). Have it with raw honey. I have looked at the flowering teas before, but thought it was very expensive for a cup of tea.

What I learned was that the flower can be steeped up to 3 times in a 24 hour period. This means that it is not as expensive as I originally thought. I like that there is a long (2.5 year) shelf life, in case I want to reserve some of these for special occasions. Hopefully I will win….. yayy!

I like the set of 4 Air-tight Storage Jars!

  • by Sandra Brower February 4, 2010 at 9:47 am

I love that Primula has replacements for most every breakable in their collection. The saddest thing is to break a piece in a set you love and never be able to replace it. I have been window shopping online for a company to buy a flowering tea set from and I had not seen this site yet. Just the fact they have replacement pieces is a big selling point and their pieces are beautiful as well.

    Thank you for introducing me.

I normally got to Teavana, a tea store in the mall close to my home. I test their teas and they are delicious. For Christmas I got some of the blooming flower balls, straw miaksi flavored. However, I wasn’t told how to use them and I do not have a tea pot or anything to use them. I normally just heat up water in the microwave and then drop the ball into the water. They do not always bloom. I read on the site that you should pour boiling water over the ball for it to bloom. In addition to learning that, if I had to pick something off the site, I would choose the “Primula Flowering Tea Gift Set” so that I could have a tea pot :)

As much as I adore the BEAUTIFUL Flowering Teas (and would love to win this wonderful prize!) we also love coffee and the best coffee is made with a French Press – so the Primula Coffee Press 5 piece Gift Set really caught my eye and made the top 10 on my Wish List.
