Jeff Corwin Chats With Rockin’ Mama *Giveaway* Published on Friday, February 5, 2010 by

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is Debbie J.  Congrats!

Except…I failed to tell him who I was!  Fortunately the PR company who set up the Skype chat informed him of who he was talking to.  It’s not every day I get the opportunity to speak with a celebrity!  If you or your children are Animal Planet fans, they you may know that Jeff Corwin is a Wildlife Biologist who has “been working for the conservation of endangered species and ecosystems around the world since he was a teenager.”  He is the Emmy Award-winning host of The Jeff Corwin Experience, has written numerous books (for kids and adults), travels all over the world, and still finds time to lecture on wildlife, ecology and conservation to audiences across the country.  He has also established an interactive museum and environmental education center called the EcoZone, located in Norwell, Massachusetts.  It was fascinating to speak with this man who has such a passion for animals.

Jeff Corwin and Animal Planet have partnered with Lunchables to give children who are passionate about animals, an opportunity to get an up close look at the animal kingdom.  Kids and their parents can enter the Lunch, Roar & Score Sweepstakes (which is going on now  through May 3, 2010), for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to Boston.  Ten winners and their families will spend three days with Jeff Corwin, learning about their favorite animals. They’ll get a behind-the-scenes tour of the New England Aquarium and Franklin Park Zoo as well as an exclusive welcome dinner with Jeff.   Just log onto the site and answer an animal-themed triva question.

Win It! I was given a prize pack for participating in this promotion, but I want to give it to one of you.  One of you will win Growing Up, a 5 DVD gift set from Animal Planet.  Simply leave me a topic-related comment (something you learned on the site or from my interview).  Comments will close on February 20, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST.  One comment per person, please (unless you do the extra credit). US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. If you don’t want to leave your email address, please be sure to check back for my announcement on the winner. Please note that winners must respond within 48 hours of being announced/contacted or another winner will be drawn.

Want an extra entry? Do any or all of the following and receive an extra entry for each one.

Be sure to leave me a separate comment for each additional entry.

My girlfriend will flip over this! She’s obsessed with all things Animal Planet. (She’s in school to be a vet.) I knew most of the stuff but I was unaware that this 5-DVD set even existed so even I don’t win, I’m sure I’ll have to get it for her!

I never thought about fostering learning about animals in my back yard. I always think we have to go to the zoo (although I love the zoo, and will continue to take my kids there). I can also use the natural habitat in my back yard as a classroom.

This would be awesome to win for my oldest, who is always so fascinated with animals!

I wish I had cable to be able to watch Animal Planet with my daughter- she adores the short videos we watch on the Animal Planet website, especially about dogs. She is a huge animal fan!

  • by Stephanie V. February 6, 2010 at 12:59 pm

Love the topic how orphaned animals from around the world are rescued, rehabilitated and, whenever possible, returned to their natural habitats. My little boy loves animals and would be wonderful to teach him about people who dedicate their lives to save them

I liked how he talked about all people (especially kids) being natural scientists. I think kids do learn best through play and exploration and discovery, it’s just to bad that kids can’t play outside like we used to as kids. You can’t leave them unsupervised for a second anymore! Is that good or bad? Anyway, these DVDs would be a great learning experience for my kids.
