If you're a regular reader, then you know that my husband and I primarily purchase organic, all natural foods and products. Because of the types of food we purchase, we often frequent our local farmer's market and natural food stores. Christmas is less than 10 days away and I've started thinking about what types of foods we're going to be serving, since we won't b... Read More »

This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to Some Lucky Dog!
I was at the mall earlier today, trying to get those last needed gifts and some items for our baby girl (nesting?). If you're a late shopper like I am, you should definitely check out Lands' End! You'll find gifts for men, women and children! The site has TONS of items on sale and if you order by Monday... Read More »

This season is all about chocolate! Chocolate is really one of those gifts you can't go wrong with. I would never complain about receiving chocolate! And one of my favorite companies is See's Candies. When it comes to candy, I really prefer to spend all my portioned "s... Read More »

This holiday season, I've talked a lot about play. Play is vitally important for a child's development. The AAP affirms that "play is essential to development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and youth." Every toy my son plays with has been carefully selected by my husband and I. We prefer safe, ed... Read More »

The other day I washed all of our baby girl's clothes and blankets (um...nesting?). I picked up the adorable pink Aden + Anais blankets I received for her shower, anxious to wrap her up in them. I've told you several times about how much I like these muslin blankets because they keep babies warm without overheating them. Plus they're bigger than average blankets... Read More »

I can't believe that Christmas is almost here! Ten days and counting. Are you ready? We don't even have our tree up yet (that's first on my hubby's to-do list this week). And shopping? I'm about half-way done! If you can believe it, I actually find children to be the most difficult to shop for...especially when the children are not my children. Some pare... Read More »

With Christmas about 10 days away, many of you may be planning last minute holiday parties and family get-togethers. While I would LOVE to make every hors D'oeuvre, main course, and dessert, it's not always feasible....pregnant or not. I've used Subway on... Read More »

It's 3 am and I've been tossing and turning for hours. Perhaps I shouldn't have taken that 3 hour nap with my son. Perhaps sitting on my tush most of the day eating bon bons (ha!) doesn't help tire me out for a good night's sleep. Perhaps I shouldn't have had that mocha. Regardless, I'm wide awake at 3 am and ready to...well...do nothing. I hope that all this ... Read More »

The combination of the holidays and pregnancy hormones seem to put me in the baking mood. My husband knows that I don't need a whole lot of excuses to bake. For years I've been making thumbprint cookies with Hershey's Kisses for Christmas. It's a tradition and they're so easy to make. Plus, I like every excuse to eat chocolate!
During the holiday season,... Read More »

Last week we finally mailed out our Christmas cards! I have to admit that I'm not usually so organized, often waiting until the very last minute (as in the week of Christmas) to send them out. For a majority of our friends and family, we send out a somewhat generic Christmas card with a picture of our family and a standard greeting. However, when it comes to par... Read More »

I have a little boy who loves to run, climb, ride his scooter and a myriad of other physical activities...many of which have the potential to result in injury. I used to be paranoid of every scrape, bump, and bruise. Now that he's older, I worry a little less about the minor boo-boos, but a mother never stops worrying about her children (especially this mom who ju... Read More »

Chocolate and coffee. Two of my favorite foods to indulge on. They're also two food items most people enjoy receiving. I've given and received both (contentedly) year after year. I'm a fru-fru coffee drinker and particularly enjoy lattes, mochas, and ice-blended drinks. I like rich coffee and can usually tell how it's going to taste by the way it smells.

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas

Simple. Modern. Earth Tones. Eco-Friendly. These are the four adjectives I would use to describe our taste in home decor. We don't have a lot of stuff (i.e. knick knacks) because we like to keep things simple. We also have a toddler and a baby on the way, so breakables and things that require dusting don't fit well with our lifestyle.
In October, I had an o... Read More »

As a mom who is concerned about the environment my children are growing up in, I routinely evaluate what we're doing to reduce our carbon footprint. I am proud to say that with the help of my husband, our recycle bin is always full each and every week. And we pay close attention to the ingredients and packaging of the products we purchase.
Right now, my son att... Read More »

The LA Auto Show is in town this weekend (please don't yawn yet!). I had never been to an auto show and really didn't know quite what to expect. But in all honesty, it's actually quite fascinating. Obviously there are a lot. of. cars. Shiny cars, green cars, teeny cars, massive cars, sporty cars and exotic cars (ooh....aaah!). The LA Auto Show is finishing u... Read More »

Apart from a few colds and upset tummies, we've managed to stay relatively healthy this season. My husband and I got our flu shots and we've been vigilant about hand-washing and avoiding crowds. My son is very healthy and rarely ever gets sick, despite the fact that he's been in preschool, is around other children, and out with us at a number of events.
