This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by. The winner is Jovita. Congrats!
It seems the art of writing a letter by hand has been set aside and replaced by technology. In a world of e-cards and text messaging, I find myself longing for the days when technology did not make it so easy to forget how important letter writing is. It used to be tha... Read More »

True Confession 101: I have beauty products in my bathroom that I never use. While most of you are probably nodding your head in agreement, my hope is that the products I do show you, are ones that don't end up wasting shelf space and collecting dust underneath your sink. If you are looking for exclusive, top-of-the line cosmetics, be sure to check out the Los A... I have been blessed with naturally curly hair, but it wasn't always that way. When I was a child, I had thick, wavy hair, however, I would not characterize it as curly (I wish I had a picture to show you!). As the saying goes, we always want we can't have. I used to beg my mom for a perm because I wanted curly hair like the other girls in my class. As it turns o... Read More »

Since we all know how much I love to cook, I won't belabor the point. My husband has learned to accept it and we just deal with it. On the nights he comes home late from work, I'm stuck having to fend for myself. Now it used to be I'd just order out. But eating out gets really expensive (in fact, it is a huge monthly expense we're actively working to reduce).Â... Read More »

What woman doesn't like chocolate? Or going to the spa? Or pretty, fun pampering products for the face and body? I like them all, (as you can tell from my Mother's Day gift ideas this month) and one company was smart enough to combine the two to create organic, Fair Trade Certified body treats that are good enough to eat (but don't!). Chocolate, particularly d... We live in a desert! It feels that way sometimes living in Southern California. While most of the country was freezing a few weeks ago, my husband, son and I were melting in 100 degree weather at Disneyland. Needless to say, because the weather is so dry, my skin is always dry. My hands and feet suffer the most. As a nurse and a mom to a toddler, I am always... Last Tuesday I had an opportunity to participate in an online briefing with Josh Dorfman, aka McGreeny The Lazy Environmentalist and several prominent bloggers. The briefing was sponsored by Green Works and we participated online (via Twitter) and by phone. If you missed the "tweets" and you'd like to read through the complete briefing, simply search for #greenwor... Are you wearing the correct bra? The correct size? Does it feel comfortable? Do you feel supported? My son was born almost two years ago and I can't tell you how often my bra size has probably changed. I remember getting to a point during my pregnancy when I knew my bra wasn't fitting right. And then there was the nursing...we won't get into that.  A correct... Up until a few months ago, I had no idea that silhouettes were a unique, creative, memorable way to decorate. Just ask my friend and fellow blogger Linda...she's obsessed with them! We recently decorated my son's room but we still had one empty wall, right above his crib.
Thanks to Vinyl Silhouettes, we have a lovely, artistic, custom head profile of my son in ... Read More »

While it's still only Spring in most parts of the country, we Californians have had a taste of summer already. Two weeks ago we had temperatures weigh into the 90's! I try to make it a point of at least wearing sunscreen or a makeup with sunscreen on my face every day to prevent sun damage and aging. Last year there were over 1,000,000 new cases of skin canc... I'm a romantic at heart. I cry at Hallmark commercials and WEEP at romantic comedies and dramas (especially when the guy gets the girl). Fox and MGM Home Entertainment are celebrating Mother's Day by releasing four new themed DVD giftsets. Here is wha... Read More »

I'm getting older. I don't feel it so much as I notice it. The changes are subtle and probably more prominent in my mirror. As a busy, working mom, there are some things I've had to give up. For example, I don't sleep inm get facials, manicures or massages. And, I often forget a key component of aging gracefully...skin care!
I have combination skin, which bas... Read More »

I stay at home with my son 5 days a week and I only wish I could afford to take him to museums, the zoo, and other "fun" places. It's interesting because I had a conversation with my pediatrician about this very topic. He assured me that as long as we were spending time together playing, etc. he would develop appropriately...even if I didn't take him to those "fun... Read More »

Summer is around the corner and I have been working hard to lose the residual baby weight. Exercise and a proper diet are key to weight loss and management. As someone who doesn't eat a wide variety of foods, (I have my favorites that I tend to stick to) I have to work hard to ensure I'm getting all of the appropriate nutrients (which are best absorbed when deri... I will be attending BlogHer in July and it will be my second year in a row! I have a fabulous sponsor (more about that very soon) and I'm driving across the country with two other bloggers that I've gotten to know both online and in person. All I need is a place (or two) to stay! Z Recommends is giving away a three night stay at the Chicago Sheraton! Hurry! ...
