Let’s Get This Summer Party Started Published on Monday, May 11, 2009 by

I can’t believe it’s almost summer.  The weather is changing, the days are getting longer, vacations are being planned, and it’s time to get this party started!  Amanda, Tanya, and I are your hosts for this HUGE event that will last through the end of September!  Whew!  We’re going to get to know each other very well.  Join us each week for reviews, giveaways, games, and more!  My hope is that this will be a time for us to get to know each other.

dreyers-neighborhood-salute-logoWe can’t have a party without refreshments, and thanks to Dreyers, one of you will be set for six months!  I would walk miles for great ice cream (and I have…in Europe).  If you’ve never had Dreyer’s Slow Churned Ice Cream, I have to say you’re missing out.  We are regular consumers of the Slow Churned Variety because it’s rich, creamy,  and contains half the fat of regular ice cream.  And unlike most manufacturers of “light” ice cream, all of your my favorite varieties are available including Cookie Dough, Cookies ‘N Cream, Coffee, French Silk, and Mint Chocolate Chip.  If you prefer, Dreyers offers No Sugar Added and Yogurt options.

slowchurned-icecreamRight now, Edy’s and Dreyer’s Ice Cream are holding a national contest, the Slow Churned Neighborhood Salute.  If you log on to the site, you can enter to win one of 1,500 ice cream block parties with enough ice cream to feed up to 100 guests and a party-in-a-box.  The contest ends May 29, so be sure to enter if you’d like your chance at a summer ice cream party in your community. In addition, Edy’s is planning to debut a new Slow Churned Light Ice Cream flavor to build on its Rocky Road legacy (created 80 years ago during the Great Depression).   Head on over to the site to enter to win $100,000 for one day of dishing out ice cream and smiles to fellow Americans this summer.

    If I were to break down and eat this (ha–I LOVE their stuff) my #1 would be Light Double Fudge Brownie. My biggest problem with Edy’s/Dreyer’s Slow Churned is that there is not one of the flavors I do NOT like! There is no way to tell this stuff is “light”.

    My favorite flavor is Caramel Delight. The caramel is absolutely luscious.

    In the fall, I absolutely inhale caramel apples. Its a good thing Dreyer’s produces an ice cream with this great ingredient. I can have a caramel dessert year round.

    I LOVE both the Fudge Tracks & the Triple Chocolate, I can’t decide between them, so I usually wait until the store has a BOGO sale and buy them both. :-) I know, shame on me, then I put chocolate syrup and whipped cream on it. (I know that defeats the purpose of the 1/2 the sugar part, but it makes ME feel better!)
