My Green and Clean Bathroom Published on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 by

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is Karen!  Congratulations!

global_nav_logo

I know that there must be someone out there who likes to clean bathrooms.  I, however, am not one of them.  In fact, my husband and I wait and wait and wait until it gets so unbearably filthy that we’re forced to clean it.  And now you’re probably thinking what a mess we are!  Hehe!  Well, since it’s almost spring I figure it’s time to clean the bathroom again.  Sigh…  Here is what our tub looked like before it was cleaned:

And here is what it looks like after using Nature’s Source Bathroom Cleaner:

Vlogging with the Vado HD!

Nature’s Source is a new line of natural cleaning products from SC Johnson, made with simple, biodegradable plant-based cleaners.

natures-source-line

When I got pregnant with my son, I virtually eliminated any cleaning product that didn’t make the all-natural, environmentally-friendly grade.  Thanks to the Family Review Network and SC Johnson, I was able to test out the Natural Bathroom Cleaner.  There are two things I look for in a company that claims to be “green” and “natural.”  First…does the company disclose all ingredients and are those ingredients eco-friendly and safe for my son?  Second…does the product work?  Nature’s Source Cleaners fit the bill!  The Natural Bathroom Cleaner contains a plant-based cleaning agent, purified water,  lactic acid, and a small amount of synthetic fragrance.  That’s it!  No long lists of ingredients you can’t pronounce, let alone understand. No harmful bleaches, dyes, ammonia or phosphorus.  The company goes so far as to give you a definition of all ingredients used in their products.

pdp_bc_image_xlg24I used the Natural Bathroom Cleaner on my bathtub, which is actually really hard to clean.  Because the tub is slip-resistant, it traps a ton of dirt, grime, and soap-scum.  I simply sprayed the product all over the tub, waited until it started to foam, then scrubbed it clean with a brush.  It did not take a lot of effort and I was really happy with how clean and sparkly my tub looked once I was done.  The effective ingredient in this cleaner is lactic acid which loosens even the most stubborn grime and hard-water deposits.  The cleaner is safe to use on a multitude of surfaces including chrome fixtures, glazed porcelain surfaces, synthetic marble, fiberglass, plastic, vinyl, glazed ceramic tile, and stainless steel. The only thing I should mention is that it does have a scent.  It’s almost like a sweet, citrusy scent…noticeable but not overwhelming.

Nature’s Source Natural Bathroom Cleaner retails for $3.49 and is available for purchase at retailers nationwide like Target.  Check out the entire line on their site.

Win It! One of you will win a bottle of Nature’s Source Natural Glass & Surface Cleaner so you can try the line out for yourself.  Simply head on over to the site, then come back and tell me one fact you learned about the company or about their products (or a product you liked other than the two mentioned in this review).  Comments will close on March 17, 2009 at 10 PM PST. One comment per person, please. US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. They have TIPS and TRICKS on their site, “What can you do today for a more natural tomorrow? We have a few ideas to get you started. Check back every week for a new tip.” Very enjoyable and enlightening reading.
