We all know that toddlers have much more important things to do than to stop and use the potty. That would mean precious minutes away from playing outside or at the park.   It’s new and different and I know for a fact that my toddler does not like change.  One of the things I’ve learned about the entire potty training process is that in order for us as a family to be successful in the process, there must be some motivation…some incentive…something to compel my son to go from diapers to diaperless.  Positive reinforcement is the premise for which the Pot-Tee Prize Potty Training System was developed.

Positive reinforcement goes beyond a reward and is not the same thing as a bribe.  Positive reinforcement involves acknowledging and rewarding your child for a positive behavior, thereby increasing the likeliness that the behavior will be repeated. The benefits of positive reinforcement for behavior change are well documented.  Confidence and independence are the result of positive reinforcement. It’s important to note that “rewards” don’t have to be tangible.  Affection and praise are the best rewards!

Transition to the Toilet

Using the Potty Away From Home

    I love the grab bag of toys. I started with an incentive of .05 for every dry pull-up and that he goes on the potty. He got a few nickles but it very slow going and he poops in his pants and won’t even try the potty.

    Oh! This is so awesome!! I actually got one of these for my son…and I can’t wait to use it when it’s time!! I’d be so thrilled to win one for my nephew…he’s 2 1/2 and about to hit the potty training stage!! What I like the best about it is the accent being on the postive rather than the negative!! That’s so important for kids and works better too!! My best potty training tip would have to be…don’t push kids just because you think they should be ready by now, or all of your friends kids were trained by this age…if the child is really having trouble, instead of making it something negative….turn it positive…and if they really aren’t ready…wait a few weeks and try again!!

    I love that both her coffee business and the Pot-Tee business donate proceeds to charity. It makes you feel like your consumerism is actually helping someone out! :) I have NO potty-training advice, as I am about to go through my first experience. I was potty-trained in one weekend: my mother dropped me off at her mother’s house and two days later… viola! Sounds good to me, but considering my mother didn’t potty train, I don’t think grandma’s will work. Pot-Tee sounds like a perfect solution!

    Well I like all the stuff that comes with it… I mean that’s a HUGE set! One tip I have.. Hmmm Use Leg warmers!! It’s easier to pull off a diaper and have them sit on the potty. It’s much easier then pulling off pants and undoing a diaper! That’s my only tip so far, as we haven’t really started Training YET!!! Thanks
