Get In Shape Girl: Lullaby Exercises by Chicks-N-Chickens (Plus a Giveaway) Published on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 by

*Update*

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  The winner is Jenna.  Congratulations!

I am a busy mom!  I work part-time, we just bought a house, and I write for several different sites including my own.  So guess what always gets put aside…working out!  I pay for a gym membership every month and it is literally 5 minutes from my house.  Unfortunately, it’s very difficult to get to the gym with my husband’s hectic work schedule. It’s frustrating since I used to work out several times a week.

After my son was born, I aspired to get my baby weight off as quickly as possible, definitely before the end of the first year.  This goal proved to be much more difficult than I had realized.  Chicks-N-Chickens launched a postpartum fitness program on DVD earlier this year, called Lullaby Exercises. I only wish I had known about the program after my son was born so I would not have been so frustrated with the last stubborn 10 pounds.

While it’s likely that your baby will sleep right through Lullaby Exercises, this lively, fun workout is designed to get you moving!  A couple of weeks ago I put my son in the Ergo and we started grooving to the hip tunes of Lisa Phenix.  I have to admit that I’ve never really had much success with fitness DVDs.  I’m quickly learning that if I’m going to get exercise in, I have to do something that offers the flexibility of working out at home.  And at only 35 minutes, you’ll get a decent workout without worrying about your baby getting bored, hungry, or fussy.  The squats are amazing and who knew you could tone your tummy without having to lie down?  Check out a preview!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjwVGv5Fs6U&hl=en&fs=1]

I have worn my son since he was born and I’ve learned to do pretty much anything with him in the carrier. Working out with him was a first, and I have to say that I got a really good workout (you know, the kind where you sweat!).  The music and workout are a really nice mix of soothing, fluid movements for babies while still maintaining an upbeat feel.  You’ll dance, sway, stretch and feel good afterwards!  My son was a very fussy baby and I really feel like this would have helped me get him to sleep while getting in some cardio benefits for myself.  While the recommended age for using this program with your baby is eight weeks to one year, my son really enjoyed this (perhaps because he’s so used to being in the carrier).  We laugh and he just enjoys being danced and bounced around.  And I don’t have to go to the gym!

Founder Darcy Novo Albrecht incorporates her years of fitness and “mom” experience into  this program to give moms a creative way to tone and shape their bodies while soothing their babies to sleep.  You can purchase Lullaby Exercises on her site for $29.95.

Win It!  I have a Lullaby Exercises program (including CD and DVD) to give away to one very lucky reader, courtesy of Chicks-N-Chickens. You’re absolutely going to love this!  Head on over to the site and then come back and let me know what you like most about the program or how you think it will benefit you.  Comments will close on November 7, 2008 at 10 pm PST and I will announce the winner here the following day. One comment per person, please. US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. I have a 3 week old baby and would love this program. With winter coming I know I’m not going to want to exercise much outdoors – this would be perfect. Thanks for the chance!

Exercise exercise exercise. Trying to get motivated.

  • by Susan October 30, 2008 at 12:08 pm

I really miss exercising since my baby was born! I would love to be able to exercise again without making him freeze in the jogging stroller!

  • by Andrea McMann October 30, 2008 at 3:18 pm

YOu don’t have to enter me, but I just want to say that I love, love, LOVE that they’re promoting babywearing in such a way! How cool!! :D

  • by Marlena U. October 30, 2008 at 6:36 pm

I like the definition of “chick” and “chickens” on the website. The testimonials are wonderful. I love how it encourages bonding with your child while getting you up and moving to lose some weight! I’d love to try this out as exercising is so hard to do with a little one. Thanks for the chance. m_huston(at)hotmail(dot)com

What a great way to fit in exercise with a new baby! Then you can fall asleep yourself!

It is a great program to do with a little one, especially with winter and cold weather!

  • by Katrina October 31, 2008 at 5:51 am

I hate going out to exercise… this would be perfect!

  • by Sweetpeas October 31, 2008 at 8:59 am

I wore my twins and plan to wear this baby (due in April) as well (probably even more, since I’ll need my hands free to do things w/ the big girls), an exercise video that incorporates babywearing is AWESOME!!!

  • by Rebecca October 31, 2008 at 11:49 am

I really like reading the stories of how it was invented and perfected. What a great idea for us busy moms!! Oh, and by the way, what’s a gym? I’ve never seen one of those! :) At least not since my son was born…

I like how in the video they usually still have a hand on the baby, that’s very realistic. I don’t know about you, but when possible I always still have a hand on my baby even when she’s wrapped up on me!

  • by Kam A October 31, 2008 at 1:57 pm

I love that you can exercise without leaving your baby :)

    Thank you for the giveaway!!

I wish I had had this when my son was born. He rarely napped and that gave me very little time for excercise. I like that this includes baby and would make it possible for Mom to excercise even if their babies didn’t cooperate by sleeping.

What a great idea–rocking your baby to sleep while getting exercise! I love the slings they all have and would love trying this out with my new baby carrier. I haven’t been able to exercise much since giving birth, but it would be fun to watch this DVD of mothers and babies and try to work it out.

  • by Lindsie October 31, 2008 at 6:09 pm

This sounds so awesome!! To actually have time to exercise while spending time with the baby would be wonderful!!

  • by Michelle October 31, 2008 at 7:12 pm

I like that you get to excercise and the baby gets to be near to you. I am expecting in March and this could be very helpful for getting back into the swing of things again.

  • by Jennifer October 31, 2008 at 9:24 pm

I am really impressed by this idea! I love wearing my 3 month old and I think we would really benefit from this. Thanks for making me aware of this! It does seem like it is safe for the baby as well

  • by kiy October 31, 2008 at 11:48 pm

Oh gosh, I could use this and I want to set a good example to my little gal. While she is a toddler and I could not wear her like you wear your son maybe she could do them with me! She would think it was fun and I could get a work out in. Sweet!

    Cheers, Kiy

  • by hazel hunt November 1, 2008 at 1:47 am

    nice!!!

  • by Amanda November 1, 2008 at 2:39 am

I need this so bad! It’s such a great idea! I need to lose my baby weight but my baby girl will not let me put her down! She loves her swing, so this would be great for her and I!

  • by Jessica November 1, 2008 at 3:20 am

Anything that will help me get my little one to sleep with helping me out with exercise is a welcome product.

  • by djp November 1, 2008 at 5:13 am

i know who could use this one

  • by Andrea November 1, 2008 at 12:33 am

This is great. I love that you can hold your baby at the same time and can do something fun for both of you. I’m not going to be able to go to the gym anymore and I need stuff to do inside during the winter. I’d love to try this!

  • by jenna November 1, 2008 at 3:56 pm

I think this DVD will help me stay motivated to fight off the winter pounds.

  • by charline s November 1, 2008 at 7:01 pm

Exercise and bonding all in one.

  • by Stacy November 2, 2008 at 2:26 am

I love to try new workout videos and this one sounds different than most and, from your review, it would be efficient and fun!

  • by alison November 2, 2008 at 3:18 am

Getting my little one to sleep is the best!

  • by Chrysa November 2, 2008 at 3:56 am

I like that you can do it while watching your baby. My sister would love this! Thanks for the giveaway!

  • by Megan November 2, 2008 at 3:23 pm

What a great idea! As I’m growing bigger each day (now 15 weeks), I know that I will need a plan to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight after the baby is born. This looks like a great way to do it and involves the baby!

  • by SuburbanGypsy November 3, 2008 at 1:31 am

I love this! I am a babywearing mama and adore the idea of getting fit while wearing your lil one. It promotes the bonding that we all want with our children and gives us a way to get active without having to put them down. A bonus for mom and baby.

Thanks for offering this wonderful giveaway! Good luck to everyone!

  • by SuburbanGypsy November 3, 2008 at 1:32 am

You wonder how the stars do it. Maybe this would bring one a little closer to that ideal.

  • by Erica G November 5, 2008 at 2:32 am

I am having so many problems losing the last of this weight. I still have about 15 lbs to go. I think this would be a great way to bond with my baby. I also think that we need to lead by example. Thanks!

  • by Jennifer Jozwiak November 5, 2008 at 3:05 am

This would be a great way to spend time with the baby and lose whatever weight I will gain!

  • by Mindie W November 6, 2008 at 3:50 am

I don’t have back up babysitting. I would love to lose weight at home with my baby. Thanks

  • by weesheep November 6, 2008 at 7:02 pm

I really like how the babies are included in the workout. You don’t need free weights! Thanks for the contest.

  • by Ed Nemmers November 6, 2008 at 10:41 pm

Baby proximity along with the exercise!

  • by Casey November 7, 2008 at 1:00 am

  • by Beth November 7, 2008 at 3:49 pm

I think it’s awesome! Something to benefit the mother and baby!!

  • by Melissa B. November 7, 2008 at 4:04 pm

No need for a babysitter. You and the baby can bond.

  • by Xenia November 7, 2008 at 7:20 pm

I love that I could do some exercise not only from the privacy of my own home (then I wouldn’t have to see all the already in-shape people in their spandex) but that it would be whenever I want and I wouldn’t have to work to fit a certain workout time into my schedule. Thanks!

  • by kathy pease November 7, 2008 at 9:44 pm

i would love to slim down :)

  • by Megan November 8, 2008 at 12:06 am

I love the fact it keeps you exercising and close to your little one. I would totally use this after my little one is born…

  • by amy November 8, 2008 at 2:26 am

I like that you can actually excercise withthem. My chicken all of a sudden wants to be held when I’m trying to excercise and the programs I watch /perfor aren’t conducive to this! I love that this incorporates your little chicken!

think its cute they call themselves chief chick, vice chick, cfo chick!

  • by Christina November 8, 2008 at 3:17 am

I think the program is a great way for new moms to get in some exercise!
