I’ve always tried to do my best to reduce, reuse, and recycle. It’s only been in the last couple of years that I’ve really gotten serious about doing research, evaluating my current lifestyle, and making changes that will help preserve our environment. I have to admit that there are some things I just don’t want to let go of…like my bottled water. I grew up on bottled water. It’s a habit…a way of life. When we were dating, my husband used to tease me about not going anywhere without my bottle of water.
With recent concerns regarding chemical leaching and the ginormous amount of oil required to make plastic water bottles comes Primo, a company who has designed an environmentally-friendly bottle made from plants rather than crude oil. If you can believe it, we could save a million or a couple of hundred million gallons of gas a year if we all used natural plastics derived from plants. So how do they do it? Watch the video here!
I was first introduced to Primo at BlogHer earlier this summer. Being green-minded I was very interested in comparing the taste of their water versus my Costco water. I have to say that the water tasted really good…most likely you won’t notice any difference between the bottled water you’re drinking now and Primo’s water. I’ll be completely honest with you. I don’t like tap water and I know for certain that I won’t be carrying around a reusable water bottle all day hoping I come across a place to fill up. I have never liked the taste of tap water and I like the convenience of having a water bottle at hand at all times. I love that the bottles are BPA-free and recyclable…that means it’s good for you and the planet!
Primo Water is available at grocery stores nationwide and priced at $4.99 for a case of 18 . Find a location here. Want to learn more about why your body needs water? Check out their 3 webisodes on Youtube here!

Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce Review & Giveaway (2 Winners)
September 8, 2008
*Update*
This giveaway is now closed! The winners are Cindy Ellis and Sandra Melnick. Congratulations!
True confession: I’d rather do laundry, vacuum, wash the dishes and pretty much anything else around the house than cook. Believe me, this does not stem from a lack of effort. I’ve just had one too many “dishes gone wrong.” My confidence in my ability to provide my husband with a meal he’ll actually eat has wavered. So when I was approached about reviewing Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce I didn’t hesitate for a second. An all-purpose sauce I can grill, cook, AND marinate with? Absolutely I’ll try it! I can use it on steak, chicken, fries, hamburgers, and fish? Hurry and and send it! I can use it to flavor soups, stews, dips, and more? Sold!
We received The Original Country Bob’s Cookbook along with the two bottles of All Purpose Sauce to review. One of the things I was most impressed with was how the founder has committed the company to Christ. Many of the recipes in the cookbook have Bible verses on the same page. It’s so rare in today’s society for a company to dedicate it’s entire success to Christ. ![]()
Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce is “more than a steak sauce.” I have to digress for a moment and inform you that I have no idea what a steak sauce is supposed to taste like because I don’t eat steak. My husband, however, does eat steak and after trying the All Purpose Sauce, told me that it’s definitely not your ordinary steak sauce. We decided to try marinate chicken breast in the sauce and bake it in the oven. My husband is not the type to leave any meat unseasoned but for the purpose of retaining the true essence of the sauce, he let it “be.” We were both very pleased with how flavorful and moist the chicken tasted. It definitely enhanced the taste of the chicken without being overwhelming. The sauce is tangy, versatile and healthy! At 25 calories, the sauce is low in sodium and fat-free.
The cookbook is a fantastic collection of Country Bob-inspired recipes. I highly recommend getting it so that you can explore the numerous ways the sauce can be used. Their Shrimp Scampi recipe sounds amazing! You’ll also find recipes on the site. Along with the All-Purpose Sauce you’ll find a spicy version, a barbeque sauce, and a seasoning salt. You can purchase all of these products on the site or at a retail location near you.
*Bonus* Sign up for their newsletter and receive a coupon for a free bottle of All-Purpose Sauce (excludes Alaska, California, Hawaii, North Dakota, Oregon, and Vermont).
Win It! The company has graciously offered to give away 2 cookbooks valued at $22.00 each to two readers. Simply head on over to the site and check it out. Come back and leave me a comment with which sauce you’d like to try and what you’d use it on. Comments will close on September 18, 2008 at 10 pm PST and I will announce the winner here the following day. One comment per person, please. US residents only.
