Boca Review & Giveaway (2 Winners)

September 4, 2008

Update

This giveaway is now closed!  Thank you for stopping by!  The winners are Carol and Jennifer M.  Congratulations!

If I could be diligent enough to eat the proper combination of foods to obtain all of the nutrients my body needs, without eating meat, I would become a vegetarian.  I’ve never really liked eating red meat and I only eat poultry out of necessity.  Since I purposefully limit my fish intake to a couple of times a week, I’m constantly trying to find ways to consume protein and iron-rich foods.

The first time I heard about Boca was from my very good friend who has a dairy allergy.  Her experience with soy-based dairy alternatives was so favorable that she actually preferred Boca’s Burgers and Veggie Patties over hamburgers.  I actually don’t like hamburgers so the thought of an alternative was initially unappealing to me.  During BlogHer, Boca sponsored an afternoon break and I mustered up my courage to try a Boca Burger and a Chick’n Patty.  I was really surprised at how yummy they both tasted, although I did prefer the Chick’n Patty.  I was expecting both products to have a veggie or soy taste and I did not experience this with either product.   In fact, I decided to pick up a box of Chick’n Patties for myself and 2 varietites of Boca Burgers for my husband (Flame Grilled and Original) while I was at Whole Foods.  I really like the Chick’n Patties and while my husband found the burgers to be tasty, he prefers a big, juicy hamburger straight from the cow.  What can I say, he’s a meat and potatoes guy from the South!

Hey Weight Watchers’ Members…I calculated many of Boca’s products to be anywhere from 1-3 points and one will definitely fill you up!  Just don’t make up for it with fries and a shake!  : )  Boca’s soy-based products are a great source of calcium, iron, and fiber and are lower in fat (including saturated fat), calories, and cholesterol than meat-based products.  Many of Boca’s products are made with organic ingredients and cater to the Vegan population.  If you’d like more information on Boca’s expansive line of products, tips on healthy living, or recipes to inspire new ways of eating your favorite Boca product, check out the website.
