In Search of Mom’s Craziest Morning…A Contest!

Mother’s Day is approaching soon. It’s time for all of you hard-working moms to be recognized for all you do. We all know how crazy mornings can be, particularly if you’re a mom who works outside of the home. Success is measured by how many times everyone gets to school and work on-time. Breakfast, the most important meal of the day, is often a luxury. Enter Breakfast Breaks, a new way to get kids the nutrition they need when the clock is ticking. Sometimes mama needs a break! And a massage! Breakfast Breaks has teamed up with Denise Jonas, the Mom of the band The Jonas Brothers, in search of “Mom’s Craziest Morning.” To enter, log onto the Breakfast Breaks website and submit your craziest morning story for a chance to win four tickets to one of The Jonas Brothers’ summer concerts. Hey…they’re even throwing in a $150 Spafinder gift card. While the kids are away (seeing The Jonas Brothers), mama will play…hookie…at the spa! The contest runs from May 1 – June 15 and one winner from four regions of the country will be chosen.

I had it all planned out. I would delivery naturally without drugs at 38 1/2 weeks. Of course I would deliver early. I never allowed the possibility that I would have to be pregnant one second longer than my due date to cross my mind. Week 37 came along and I was already 1 cm dilated. Of course I could have been 1 cm dilated for another 3 weeks but I believe in the power of positive thinking. I contracted the entire weekend after my doctor’s appointment and went in the following Tuesday to be induced. Yes…I said induced. He talked me into it. I succumbed. I wanted that baby out! I was miserable and uncomfortable. In retrospect I should have waited until my baby and my body was ready. After an unsuccessful induction and a non-progressive labor, my son was born via c-section 15 hours later. I experienced a lot of guilt afterwards, mainly because I felt like I was rushing my son’s birth for my own convenience. It turns out that he was posterior and stuck in my pelvis so a c-section was the safest option for both of us.
